Microwave‐Assisted Synthesis of Chitosan–Iron Oxide (CS@Fe3O4) Nanocomposite for Removal of Cationic and Anionic Dyes

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel chitosan–iron oxide nanocomposite synthesized via microwave‐assisted technique demonstrates rapid and efficient removal of both cationic and anionic dyes from water. Comprehensive characterization and adsorption studies reveal high capacity, reusable performance, and robust removal mechanisms, positioning this material as a promising, scalable ...

Estimation of the recharging rate of groundwater using random forest technique

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2020
Accurate knowledge of the recharging rate is essential for several groundwater-related studies and projects mainly in the water scarcity regions. In this study, a comparison between different methods of soft computing-based models was obtained in order ...

Visibility Constrained Generative Model for Depth-based 3D Facial Pose Tracking

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we propose a generative framework that unifies depth-based 3D facial pose tracking and face model adaptation on-the-fly, in the unconstrained scenarios with heavy occlusions and arbitrary facial expression variations.

Remembering Forward: Neural Correlates of Memory and Prediction in Human Motor Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We used functional MR imaging (FMRI), a robotic manipulandum and systems identification techniques to examine neural correlates of predictive compensation for spring-like loads during goal-directed wrist movements in neurologically-intact humans ...

Mapping circular pathways: a bibliometric exploration and Multilinear Regression Model of Romania’s circular economy

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Economics, 2023
Circular economy represents a key concept in the contemporary era of sustainable development, with the potential to revolutionize how our society consumes, manages resources, and addresses ecological issues. In this context, Romania, a country with a rapidly developing economy, has gradually embraced the principles of the circular economy and has begun

The relationship between seasonal mean temperature and most extreme day

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
In Northern Hemisphere winter, there is a strong correlation between seasonal mean temperature and coldest daily mean temperature which varies in magnitude from one region to another (with a weaker relationship in summer between mean and hottest day).

Polanyi on crisis: The United States, fascism and ecological break‐down

open access: yesJournal of Law and Society, EarlyView.
Abstract This article uses Karl Polanyi's understanding of the crisis inherent in liberal economics to analyse a contemporary crisis—Trump's global tariff agenda. It argues that Trump's tariff agenda conforms to Polanyi's interpretation of how the crisis of liberal economics can disintegrate into more malignant forces.

Empirical analysis of the solar contribution to global mean air surface temperature change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The solar contribution to global mean air surface temperature change is analyzed by using an empirical bi-scale climate model characterized by both fast and slow characteristic time responses to solar forcing: $\tau_1 =0.4 \pm 0.1$ yr, and $\tau_2= 8 \pm

Extremely Fast Maximum Likelihood Estimation of High‐Order Autoregressive Models

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider the problem of exact maximum likelihood estimation of potentially high‐order (p>50$$ p>50 $$) autoregressive models. We propose an extremely fast coordinate‐wise algorithm for fitting autoregressive models. This fast algorithm exploits several properties of the negative log‐likelihood when parameterised in terms of partial ...
