Multimodal Labeling

2009
This paper is about automated labeling of emotions. Prototypes have been developed for extraction of features from facial expressions and speech. To train such systems data is needed. In this paper we report about the recordings of semi-spontaneous emotions. Multimodal emotional reactions are evoked in 21 controlled contexts.

Multimodal Optimization

Proceedings of the Companion Publication of the 2015 Annual Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, 2015
Multimodal optimization is currently getting established as a research direction that collects approaches from various domains of evolutionary computation that strive for delivering multiple very good solutions at once. We start with discussing why this is actually useful and therefore provide some real-world examples.

Multimodality and stylistics

2015
As demonstrated by the chapters in the present book, stylisticians study the way meaning is created through language in literature and other types of text – and they do so from a great variety of linguistic perspectives. Until recently the stylistic approach to text analysis has been predominantly logocentric in nature.

Hierarchical Multimodal Metric Learning for Multimodal Classification

2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2017
Multimodal classification arises in many computer vision tasks such as object classification and image retrieval. The idea is to utilize multiple sources (modalities) measuring the same instance to improve the overall performance compared to using a single source (modality). The varying characteristics exhibited by multiple modalities make it necessary

Multimodal therapy.

2000
Chapter 5 discusses multimodal therapy, and how the multimodal approach provides a framework that facilitates systematic treatment selection in a broad-based, comprehensive, and yet highly focused manner. It covers how it respects science and data-driven findings, and it endeavors to use empirically supported methods when possible.

Collaborative Multimodality

KI - Künstliche Intelligenz, 2012
This essay is a personal reflection from an Artificial Intelligence (AI) perspective on the term HCI. Especially for the transfer of AI-based HCI into industrial environments, we survey existing approaches and examine how AI helps to solve fundamental problems of HCI technology. The user and the system must have a collaborative goal.
