Elevating Configurations of Data and Emotion: Dynamics of Coproduction, Collaboration and Competition

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Creating, visualizing, and critiquing data are integral knowledge‐building practices within science, as well as many other fields. Yet data is often treated as neutral and value‐free, perpetuating narratives of science as a dispassionate discipline where data are merely extracted, repackaged, and distributed anew.

An SLD-Resolution Calculus for Basic Serial Multimodal Logics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We develop semantics for modal logic programs in basic serial multimodal logics, which are parameterized by an arbitrary combination of generalized versions of axioms T, B, 4, 5 (in the form, e.g., 4:□iϕ→□j□kϕ) and I:□iϕ→□jϕ. We do not assume any special restriction for the form of programs and goals.

LogicVista: Multimodal LLM Logical Reasoning Benchmark in Visual Contexts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We propose LogicVista, an evaluation benchmark that assesses the integrated logical reasoning capabilities of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) in Visual contexts. Recent advancements in MLLMs have demonstrated various fascinating abilities, from crafting poetry based on an image to performing mathematical reasoning.

Low‐Power Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors with Multimodal Neuromorphic Computation and Retinal‐Inspired Multiband Optical Binary Communication

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
A natural dextran film that is intrinsically green and transparent is employed as the dielectric for the optoelectronic synaptic transistors (OSTs) with the function of sensing, memorizing, and processing. The multimodal neuromorphic computation, visual adaptation ability, and retina‐inspired multiband optical binary (0 and 1) communication can be ...

Novel pre-spatial data fusion deep learning approach for multimodal volumetric outcome prediction models in radiotherapy. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Phys
Abstract Background Given the recent increased emphasis on multimodal neural networks to solve complex modeling tasks, the problem of outcome prediction for a course of treatment can be framed as fundamentally multimodal in nature. A patient's response to treatment will vary based on their specific anatomy and the proposed treatment plan—these factors ...

A Sound and Complete Substitution Algorithm for Multimode Type Theory: Technical Report [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This is the technical report accompanying the paper "A Sound and Complete Substitution Algorithm for Multimode Type Theory" [Ceulemans, Nuyts and Devriese, 2024]. It contains a full definition of Well-Scoped Multimode Type Theory (WSMTT) in Section 2, including many rules for $\sigma$-equivalence and a description of all rules that have been omitted ...

Moral Communities in a Race Status Negotiation: A Dorm Room Urination Case

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
In 2022, at a South African university, a white student was filmed urinating on the belongings of a black student. Although race was invoked as an a priori account for this incident, we demonstrate how race is made visible and relevant by participants in the interaction through an attempted, yet resisted, status degradation ceremony.
