Phase Topology Stability of an Optical Vortex via an Electrically Controlled Twist‐Planar Oriented Liquid Crystal Fresnel Lens

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A simple and efficient method for determining the stability of optical vortices via Fourier transform using a conventional spherical lens is presented. The theoretical and experimental results demonstrate a practical approach to directly and unambiguously measure the magnitude and sign of the topological charge of a beam without altering an ...

Missing Categorical Data Imputation and Individual Observation Level Imputation

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2014
Traditional missing data techniques of imputation schemes focus on prediction of the missing value based on other observed values. In the case of continuous missing data the imputation of missing values often focuses on regression models.

Photonics of Topological Magnetic Textures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Localized noncollinear magetic textures imprint their geometry and topology onto traversing photonic fields endowing them with orbital angular‐momentum, chirality, and magnetoelectric densities. Abstract Topological textures in magnetically ordered materials are an important case studies for fundamental research with promising applications in data ...

Enhanced Trapping with an Optimized Graphene‐Based Bowtie Plasmonic Nanotweezer: Design, Analysis, and Bioanalytical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A graphene‐based bowtie plasmonic nanotweezer is designed and optimized using particle swarm optimization and transfer matrix analysis. The structure achieves strong field confinement, delivering trapping forces up to 6 nN W−1 for 10 nm bioparticles with sixfold lower power requirements than conventional designs.

Monotonicity Properties of the Multinomial Distribution

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1970
Let $X = (X_1, \cdots, X_k)$ have the multinomial distribution, given by \begin{equation*} \tag{0.1} \operatorname{Pr}\{X = x\} = n!\prod^k_{i=1} (p^{xi}_i/(x_i!))\end{equation*} where $x = (x_1, \cdots, x_k), \sum^k_{i=1} x_i = n$ and $\sum^k_{i=1}p_i = 1$, and let \begin{equation*} \tag{0.2} C(p_1, \cdots, p_m) = \operatorname{Pr}\{X_i \geqq s_i; i =

Gait Analysis of Pak Biawak: A Necrobot Lizard Built using the Skeleton of an Asian Water Monitor (Varanus Salvator)

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Pak Biawak, a necrobot, embodies an unusual fusion of biology and robotics. Designed to repurpose natural structures after death, it challenges conventional boundaries between nature and engineering. Its movements are precise yet unsettling, raising questions about sustainability, ethics, and the untapped potential of biointegrated machines.
