Multipass wide-field phase imager
Advances in optical imaging always look for an increase in sensitivity and resolution among other practicability aspects. Within the same scope, in this work we report a versatile interference contrast imaging technique, with high phase sensitivity and a large field-of-view of several mm2.

The Optimal Variation of Zone Lengths in Multipass Zone Refining Processes
The effect of variable zone length on the separation efficiency in zone refining processes was investigated theoretically. During zone refining operation, properly adjusting the zone length along the ingot influences the solute concentration in the ...

SAR Tomography Imaging for Buildings Using an Inconsistency Criterion for Amplitude and Phase
An indispensable step in the imaging of Tomographic Synthetic Aperture Radar (TomoSAR) in spectral analysis or Compressive Sensing (CS) technology is estimating the perpendicular baselines in the Perpendicular Line Of Sight (PLOS) in deramping operations.

A New Approach to Simulate HSLA Steel Multipass Welding through Distributed Point Heat Sources Model
Mechanical properties of welded joints depend on the way heat flows through the welding passes. In multipass welding the reheating of the heat affected zone (HAZ) can form local brittle zones that need to be delimited for evaluation.

Detection of Protein–Protein Interactions in Escherichia coli With Single Molecule Sensitivity
This article describes a regulatory circuit in Escherichia coli able to detect protein–protein interactions with exquisite sensitivity. The interaction between two hybrid proteins fused to Bordetella pertussis adenylate cyclase and its activator calmodulin triggers a potent cyclic AMP signaling cascade.

Low-pressure multipass Raman spectrometer
Nonintrusive, quantitative measurements of thermodynamic properties of flows associated with propulsion systems are pivotal to advance their design and optimization. Laser-based diagnostics are ideal to provide quantitative results without influencing the flow; however, the environments in which such flows exist are often not ...
