A digital high-frequency multipath propagation simulator

Radio and Electronic Engineer, 1977
A digital h.f. multipath propagation simulator is described which can be applied to communications receiver and modulation techniques evaluation and operator training. It can also be applied to a variety of applications in the high-frequency field where programmable and repeatable ionospheric conditions require simulation.

Introduction to multipath propagation

2012
Multipath propagation produces different versions of the transmitted signal which combine in the receiver. Multiple paths can be produced by reflection or scattering from the ground or objects such as buildings, inhomogeneity of atmospheric refractivity or multiple ray paths through the ionosphere.

A statistical model of urban multipath propagation

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1972
An urban multipath propagation experiment, involving the simultaneous transmission from a fixed site of 100-ns pulses at 488, 1280, and 2920 MHz and their reception at a mobile van, is described. A statistical analysis of the data in the resulting multipath responses is given and used as a basis for a statistical model of urban multipath propagation.

The Multipath Propagation Problem

1997
The properties and principles outlined so far in respect of cellular radio would appear to show that a roaming radiotelephone system can be set up quite specifically. Radio coverage in a cell can be well defined; co-channel interference from adjacent cells can likewise be defined; analog voice with FM operates in an assured manner; signalling over the ...

Multipath fading of on-body propagation channels

2008 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2008
It was shown that multipath fading of an on-body channel can be characterized by a Rician distribution. The parameters of the Rican distribution for two on-body channels were extracted and their behavior during walking movement in an office and in an anechoic chamber was analyzed.

Modelling and Simulation of GPS Multipath Propagation

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
Multipath introduces error into the Global Positioning System (GPS) accuracy, which is difficult to mitigate. This paper aims to review the multipath propagation and its effect on GPS applications, through the modeling of a single reflected signal propagation behavior.

Wireless System with Multipath Propagation

2018
In particular, for broadband applications, where the signal bandwidth is a noticeable fraction of the carrier frequency and where sophisticated modulation and detection methods have to be used, the receiver does not only require a sufficient mean power but also a reasonable approximation of the impulse response \(w_{e}(t,s)\) or delay spread function \(

Multipath propagation in mobile communications

2003
When a receiver is moving in a complicated, multipath environment, it is continuously receiving new contributions with changes in delay, amplitude and polarisation. The problem of exactly analysing the multipath problem is a formidable task, but is usually one without interest.

A Statistical Model for Indoor Multipath Propagation

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1987
The results of indoor multipath propagation measurements using 10 ns, 1.5 GHz, radarlike pulses are presented for a medium-size office building. The observed channel was very slowly time varying, with the delay spread extending over a range up to about 200 ns and rms values of up to about 50 ns. The attenuation varied over a 60 dB dynamic range.

Automotive Radar Multipath Propagation in Uncertain Environments

2018 21st International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2018
Future use of high-resolution near range radar sensors for vehicle environment perception is facing challenges in terms of detection and correct assignment of multipath reflections (false-positives) from surfaces and obstacles. This paper presents a novel geometric model to determine the relative positions from surrounding targets and reflection ...
