Physical variable modeling of multiphase induction machines
2008 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2008Models of non-standard induction machines with number of phases higher than 3 are not commonly available and require special effort to implement. This paper presents a model of induction machine with arbitrary number of phases on the stator and rotor, which has been implemented in Matlab-Simulink.

Behavior of multiphase induction machines with unbalanced stator windings
8th IEEE Symposium on Diagnostics for Electrical Machines, Power Electronics & Drives, 2011Multiphase drives are receiving an increasing attention by the research community in high power applications. In this paper the behavior of multiphase induction machines with an odd number of phases is investigated under the assumption that the stator winding is unbalanced owing to a fault or an incipient damage.

Behavior of multiphase induction machines with unbalanced stator resistances
2012 15th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (EPE/PEMC), 2012Multiphase drives are adopted mainly in high power applications, where the fault detection plays a key role in reducing the maintenance costs and preserving the machine integrity. Fault diagnostics is crucial also for all the applications requiring a high degree of reliability, such as aerospace or marine applications.

Analysis of multiphase induction machines with winding faults
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2006The paper shows how the techniques of generalized harmonic analysis may be used to simulate the steady-state behavior of a multiphase cage induction motor with any form of open-circuit or short-circuit fault in the stator winding. The analytical model is verified using a four-pole machine with a 48-slot stator.

Data-Driven-Based Vector Space Decomposition Modeling of Multiphase Induction Machines
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2023For contemporary variable-speed electric drives, the accuracy of the machine's mathematical model is critical for optimal control performance. Basically, phase variables of multiphase machines are preferably decomposed into multiple orthogonal subspaces based on vector space decomposition (VSD).

The BDCE equivalent control method for multiphase induction machine
2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2013The concept behind the brush dc equivalent (BDCE) control method for multiphase induction machine is described in this paper. The BDCE concept is developed from the dc machine operation. A method for calculating the air-gap flux density is given in this paper.

A DSP-based vector control of multiphase induction machine
Proceedings of the 4th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (Cat. No.02EX527), 2003This paper presents the mathematical model of multiphase induction machines in the synchronous reference frame by using generalized two axis real transformation, which simplifies the modeling and control of multiphase induction machines. A detailed implementation of an indirect type multiphase induction machine rotor flux field orientation control and ...

On-line estimation of stator resistance and mutual inductance of multiphase induction machines
2012 13th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM), 2012Multiphase drives are receiving attention not only for medium and high power applications, but also for some low power applications, such as heavy electric vehicles. In the case of multiphase induction machines, the most widely adopted control technique is the field-oriented vector control, which provides high torque dynamics and can exploits all the ...

Online Detection of High-Resistance Connections in Multiphase Induction Machines
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2015High-resistance connections in electrical machines cause unbalances in the stator resistances, reduce the efficiency, and increase the fire hazard. In this paper, the problem of detection of high-resistance connections is investigated for multiphase induction machines with an odd number of phases. The main contribution of this paper is a control scheme
