Composable Linear Solvers for Multiphysics
2012 11th International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Computing, 2012The Portable, Extensible Toolkit for Scientific computing (PETSc), which focuses on the scalable solution of problems based on partial differential equations, now incorporates new components that allow full compos ability of solvers for multiphysics and multilevel methods.

The formulation of different physical laws, in terms of algebraic operators, was presented in the previous chapters. From an analysis of the Tonti diagrams, it emerges that they are not related to a specific physical phenomenon, but they can be considered as a common framework for several theories, that is, a scaffolding into which the variables that ...

Modeling and Simulation of Multiphysics Systems
Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, 2005AbstractA survey on the evolution of modeling and simulation (M&S) technologies related to multiphysics systems is presented. The concept of a context space for M&S is defined in terms of coexisting fields, domains of interaction, length scales, and computational technologies. Past and present efforts comprising this context space are described

In this chapter, the possible meanings of multiphysics will be discussed based on four definitions that can be found in the literature. Based on that, a clear definition of multiphysics will be reached to lay down the scope of this book. With this definition, more details will be shown about how to move from monolithic physics to multiphysics.

Multiscale/Multiphysics Model for Concrete
2010In this paper a general model for the analysis of concrete as multiphase porous material, obtained from microscopic scale by applying the so-called Hybrid Mixture Theory, is presented. The final formulation of the governing equations at macro-level is obtained by upscaling their local form from the micro-scale.
