Multiphysics coupling in the Exascale computing project

The International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications, 2021
Multiphysics coupling presents a significant challenge in terms of both computational accuracy and performance. Achieving high performance on coupled simulations can be particularly challenging in a high-performance computing context. The US Department of Energy Exascale Computing Project has the mission to prepare mission-relevant applications for ...

Multiphysics Coupling for Reentry Flows

48th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting Including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2010
A procedure has been developed to couple a hypersonic reacting flow model, a radiative heat transfer model, and a surface ablation model to study the surface heat transfer and surface ablation rate of atmospheric entry vehicles. The “loose” coupling algorithm is described for each of the models as well as the solution procedures to achieve convergence.

Structure‐coupled multiphysics imaging in geophysical sciences

Reviews of Geophysics, 2011
Multiphysics imaging or data inversion is of growing importance in many branches of science and engineering. In geophysical sciences, there is a need for combining information from multiple images acquired using different imaging devices and/or modalities because of the potential for accurate predictions.

Coupled multiphysics-RF reduced models for MEMS

2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2016
This paper proposes a fast and accurate order reduction algorithm for the extraction of compact macromodels for electrostatic actuated micro-electro-mechanical (MEMS) switches used in radio-frequency (RF) applications. The algorithm uses as input the information obtained from field simulations, in which coupled equations of electrostatic, structural ...

A Unified Numerical Scheme for Coupled Multiphysics Model

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2021
For oil and gas exploration, seismic wave propagation in coupled acoustic, elastic, poroelastic, and even anisotropic media is a valuable aspect. However, it is a challenging task to deal with the interfaces of the coupled model. In order to tackle the specific issue, a unified numerical scheme is developed, which is based on the discontinuous Galerkin

Investigation into multiphysics coupling via semiconducting nanophosphors

2015 41st Annual Northeast Biomedical Engineering Conference (NEBEC), 2015
In an attempt to strengthen the case for the design and manufacture of multi-modal imaging machines capable of simultaneous and synergistic computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as proposed by Ge Wang as early as 2012, a series of experiments using various combinations of nanophosphors, agar gels, a fiber optic coupled UV LED ...
