A MIMO FMCW radar approach to HFSWR [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2011
In this paper we propose one possible approach how to apply the concept of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) to monostatic Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) High-Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) in a maritime environment.

Turbulence‐Resilient Coherent Receiver Array on CMOS‐Compatible Silicon Photonics for Free Space Optical Communications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A CMOS‐compatible silicon‐photonic 4 × 4 coherent receiver array spatially samples turbulence‐distorted wavefronts and, with maximum‐ratio combining, enables signal recovery. Experimental BPSK tests under moderate turbulence approach theoretical combining efficiency, reducing BER from 1E‐2 to 1E‐15.

Investigation of MIMO Channel Characteristics in a Two-Section Tunnel at 1.4725 GHz

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2017
This paper presents results from a wide band single-input–single-output (SISO) and 16 × 16 virtual multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) measurement campaign at a center frequency of 1.4725 GHz in a 100-meter long tunnel laboratory which is terminated by

Eight-Port MIMO Array Using Characteristic Mode Theory for 5G Smartphone Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
An 8-port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array operating in the long-term evolution (LTE) band 42 (3400-3600 MHz) based on the characteristic mode theory (CMT) is described.

A Survey of Fractional Order Calculus Applications of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) Process Control

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2020
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems are usually present in process systems engineering. Due to the interaction among the variables and loops in the MIMO system, designing efficient control systems for both servo and regulatory scenarios remains

Joint Processing of Pilot and Data for Massive MIMO Systems in Ricean Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Besides the pilot symbols, the received data signals also contain some extra channel state information (CSI), which can be exploited to further improve the channel estimation accuracy.

Frontex and the University: Positivist Dissonance and the Institutionalisation of Border Violence through Research

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract The paper examines the existing relationships between universities and Frontex, investigating and problematising the intersection between the higher education sector and the violence of the European border regime. We introduce the concept of positivist dissonance to conceptualise these relationships within the wider “industrial‐military ...

Millisecond‐Switching Dual‐Band/Dual‐Polarization Ka‐Band Wavefront Control Enabled by a Complementary Liquid‐Crystal Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 4, 19 February 2026.
An LCD‐compatible complementary liquid‐crystal metasurface delivers dual‐band, dual‐polarized Ka‐band wavefront control with millisecond switching via a 10‐µm LC gap. Interlaced patch/slot pairs enable independent phase tuning at 28 and 38 GHz, while strategic 45° slot rotation suppresses parasitic resonances. Measurements on a 160 × 160‐cell prototype

Polarization spatial diversity and multiplexing MIMO surface enabled by graphene for terahertz communications

open access: yesNanophotonics
The terahertz (THz) frequency band has abundant spectrum resources, which is suitable for constructing communication systems with ultra-high data rates and extremely low latency. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) devices are crucial for realizing THz
