Three-dimensional through-the-wall imaging with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar
Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2014One of the main drawbacks of three-dimensional (3-D) through-the-wall imaging (TWI) with synthetic aperture radar is the long data acquisition time. The movement of the target during the long data collection time in TWI causes smearing and target displacement in the image.

High-frequency (HF) radar systems located at the coast are well-known as a measurement tool for synoptic online mapping of ocean surface current fields. These radars use surface electromagnetic wave propagation coupled to the salty ocean surface and are capable of monitoring thousands of square kilometers of the ocean surface.

SummaryMultiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) radar, employing multiple transmitters and receivers, enhances radar capabilities. It detects and tracks objects like aircraft and ships using radio waves. Compared with traditional phased‐array radar, MIMO systems offer greater flexibility, improving angular resolution and target detection.
