Some physical limitations in the performance of statistical multiple-input multiple-output RADARs

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2008
The objective of the study is to clarify some physical limitations in the performance of statistical RADAR systems using multiple antennas. In particular, it is shown that the performance of the recently proposed statistical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) RADAR is limited by the Number of Degrees of Freedom (NDF) of the scattered field ...

Non-adaptive multiple-input, multiple-output radar techniques for reducing clutter

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2009
Multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) radars enhance performance by transmitting and receiving coded waveforms from multiple locations. This paper describes MIMO techniques that can be used to improve radar performance, especially in airborne Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI) applications. The authors begin by showing how MIMO techniques can lower

Lidar‐Based Object Tracking of Traffic Participants with Sensor Nodes in Existing Urban Infrastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper presents a lidar‐based sensor node design and a rule‐based state observer for edge‐based traffic participant tracking. Unlike other state‐of‐the‐art methods, this state observer enables real‐time, CPU‐only edge processing without relying on machine learning approaches.

Interpreting How Neural Networks Infer Scatterer Geometry from Echolocation Echoes

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Neural networks enable echolocation‐based shape classification but remain difficult to interpret due to their black‐box nature. This work presents a feature‐importance metric to uncover the echo regions driving decisions in shape‐specialized networks.

Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance of Metamorphic Microrobots Using Concentric Sector Navigator

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Metamorphic magnetic microrobots are navigated using a concentric sector navigator for dynamic obstacle avoidance in both microroller and swarm states. After microroller transport, citrate‐triggered dissolution releases nanoparticles that reassemble into a controllable swarm.
