Golden Coded Multiple Beamforming

open access: yes, 2010
The Golden Code is a full-rate full-diversity space-time code, which achieves maximum coding gain for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems with two transmit and two receive antennas.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Pure Exploration with Multiple Correct Answers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We determine the sample complexity of pure exploration bandit problems with multiple good answers. We derive a lower bound using a new game equilibrium argument.

Erasure Multiple Descriptions

open access: yes, 2010
We consider a binary erasure version of the n-channel multiple descriptions problem with symmetric descriptions, i.e., the rates of the n descriptions are the same and the distortion constraint depends only on the number of messages received. We consider

Multiple targets for multiple sclerosis

open access: yesGenes & Diseases, 2015
Multiple sclerosis (MS), a leading cause of non-traumatic disability in young adults, is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) associated with aberrant autoimmune responses. It has long been thought that therapeutic development should be centered on immunomodulatory agents.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

CASE REPORT
Additional openings of the coronary sinus and associated anomalies

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science, 2006
The coronary sinus normally opens into the right atrium through a single orifice. Past research studies have described various anomalies of the coronary sinus but there are fewer reports on multiple orifices of the coronary sinus.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

The multiple gamma functions and the multiple q-gamma functions

open access: yes, 1996
We give an asymptotic expansion (the higher Stirling formula) and an infinite product representation (the Weierstrass product representation) of the Vign\'{e}ras multiple gamma functions by considering the classical limit of the multiple q-gamma ...
