Novel homozygous CFAP69 mutations in humans and mice cause severe asthenoteratospermia with multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella

Journal of Medical Genetics, 2018
Background Male infertility is a major issue of human reproduction health. Asthenoteratospermia can impair sperm motility and cause male infertility. Asthenoteratospermia with multiple morphological abnormalities of the flagella (MMAF) presents abnormal ...

Neurourologic Abnormalities in Multiple Sclerosis

Journal of Urology, 1982
Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, often producing abnormalities in sexual function and urinary control. Eighty-six patients with this disorder were referred to our neurourologic facilities for evaluation (45 women and 41 men). Symptomatic voiding dysfunction was present in 84 patients (97 per cent).

Visual abnormalities with multiple trauma

Surgical Neurology, 1984
The diversity of pathogenetic mechanisms involved in posttraumatic visual impairment was reviewed in a study of the hospital records of 24 patients admitted with multiple injuries. Most major visual abnormalities occurred in young people (average age 33 years) who presented with a wide range of overall severity of injury (injury severity score 13-47 ...

Growth Abnormalities and Multiple Gestations

Seminars in Perinatology, 2008
Growth abnormalities which include intrauterine growth restriction and weight discordance between twins are common in pregnancies complicated by multiple gestations and may be associated with poor perinatal outcomes. Knowledge of chorionicity is paramount when managing a multiple pregnancy. Monochorionic twins are at greater risk than dichorionic twins

Abnormal protein patterns in multiple sclerosis

Neurochemical Research, 1979
Sera from patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and those obtained from normal subjects are indistinguishable by regular 5% or 7% polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. However, 11 out of 15 MS sera examined by gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed three distinct protein bands.

SMALL-BOWEL ABNORMALITIES IN MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

The Lancet, 1976
Jejunal biopsies were performed in 12 randomly chosen patients with multiple sclerosis. The jejunal mucosa was examined histologically, ultrastructurally, and by tissue immune techniques. Histology showed a normal mucosa in 7 patients, increased inflammatory-cell infiltration in 3, a partial villous atrophy in 1, and a subtotal villous atrophy in the ...

Peripheral nerve abnormality in multiple sclerosis

Annals of Neurology, 1977
AbstractBiopsy specimens of sural nerve from 10 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), of whom only 1 was severely disabled, were assessed by morphometric techniques and compared to nerves from age‐matched controls. The frequency of abnormal teased fibers was increased in MS nerve, with many intenodes showing at least a 50% reduction in myelin ...

Proteus Syndrome with Multiple Genitourinary Abnormalities

Urologia Internationalis, 2006
Proteus syndrome is a rare hamartomatous disorder comprising a broad spectrum of congenital malformations and overgrowth of multiple tissues. Some rare urogenital malformations have been reported before. This case is unique for the presence of multiple genitourinary anomalies including retroperitoneal cystic mass, intra-abdominal testicle with hematoma

Stapedius Reflex Abnormalities in Multiple Sclerosis

International Journal of Audiology, 1975
Thirteen patients suffering from multiple sclerosis were analyzed by a Madsen ZO 70 electroacoustic bridge connected to an electronystagmograph through an impedance adaptor. Threshold, amplitude, decay and difference limen of intensity (DLI) of the stapedius reflex were examined for the frequencies 500, 1 000, 2 000 and 4 000 Hz. The difference between

Eye Movement Abnormalities in Multiple Sclerosis

Neurologic Clinics, 2010
Patients with multiple sclerosis commonly describe visual symptoms that result from several eye movement abnormalities that occur from disruption of critical pathways in the brainstem, cerebellum, and cerebral hemispheres. These abnormalities include internuclear ophthalmoplegia, ocular motor palsy, ocular misalignment, pathologic nystagmus, impaired ...
