Multiple Scattering Effect of Cracks
1999Effect of multiple scattering is studied for cracks in the three-dimensional elastic body. The multiple scattering problem for cracks is formulated by the boundary integral equations. The Born series algorithm is introduced to solve the boundary integral equations.

Effects of Multiple Cracking on Crack Growth and Coalescence in Contact Fatigue
Journal of Tribology, 1997A three-dimensional fracture analysis is applied to investigate the interaction effects of multiple cracking on the crack growth in contact fatigue and to simulate the process of crack coalescence that leads to pitting failure. The rolling contact fatigue is simulated by a cyclic Hertzian contact loading moving across the surface of an elastic half ...

Microscopic analysis of crack propagation for multiple cracks, inclusions and voids
Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2001The elastic crack interaction with internal defects, such as microcracks, voids and rigid inclusions, is investigated in this study for the purpose of analyzing crack propagation. The elastic stress field is obtained using linear theory of elasticity for isotropic materials.

Micromechanics of multiple cracking Part II Statistical tensile behaviour
Journal of Materials Science, 1998A computational model for fibre-reinforced brittle materials in tension is developed. The model includes multiple cracking and strain-hardening processes, as well as single fracture and strain softening. The composite behaviour is derived from a single-fibre analysis by integrating over all possible fibre locations and orientations.

Stress Concentration Caused by Multiple Punches and Cracks
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1956Abstract The paper contains (a) a general theory of stress distribution under several punches in simultaneous action and of stress concentration caused by several cracks; (b) a complete evaluation for the case of two punches or two cracks. Considerable stress interference is found with punches (cracks) close to each other.

Multiple matrix cracking in brittle matrix composites
Acta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1993A theory to describe the evolution of multiple matrix cracking in brittle matrix composites is presented. The theory is based on the similarity between multiple matrix cracking and fiber fragmentation in a single-fiber composite, a problem recently addressed by the present author.
