Pediatric multiple sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology, 2009
Pediatric multiple sclerosis (MS) represents a particular MS subgroup with unique diagnostic challenges and many unanswered questions. Due to the narrow window of environmental exposures and clinical disease expression, children with MS may represent a particularly important group to study to gain a better understanding of MS pathogenesis.

Genetics of multiple sclerosis

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2011
A genetic contribution to the pathogenesis of MS has been proven by discovery of HLA-DR2 locus over 40 years ago and description of familial aggregation of MS. Novel array technologies in parallel with analytical tools, improved central sample collection in MS centres and intensified international collaborations have led to the identification of a ...

Quantitative Iron Measurements in the Basal Ganglia of NBIA Patients Using QSM: Insights From a Tertiary Center

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) comprises rare genetic disorders characterized by predominantly extrapyramidal symptoms and iron deposition in the basal ganglia. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detects qualitative changes but cannot accurately quantify iron accumulation. Quantitative susceptibility
