Prefrontal cortex iron content in neurodegeneration and healthy subjects: A systematic review

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This systematic review summarizes magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based assessments of prefrontal cortex (PFC) iron accumulation in healthy individuals and patients with neurodegenerative diseases. The review includes 12 studies using techniques such as susceptibility‐weighted imaging (SWI), quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), and R2* mapping ...

Do MRI structured reports with FIGO classifications of leiomyomas contain adequate information for clinical decision making?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate if structured reports (SR) of pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans using the PALM‐COEIN FIGO (the International Federation of Gynecology & Obstetrics) uterine leiomyomas classification (SR‐FIGO) contain adequate information for clinical decision making compared with narrative reports (NR). Methods Three reporting

Time‐restricted feeding mitigates Alzheimer's disease‐associated cognitive impairments via a B. pseudolongum‐propionic acid‐FFAR3 axis

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 2, April 2025.
A 4‐month of time‐restricted feeding (TRF) intervention alleviated cognitive impairments in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, while a 3‐month TRF regimen improved spatial memory, reduced amyloid‐beta accumulation, and promoted microglial aggregation around plaques in AD mice. Antibiotic‐induced gut microbiota depletion partly abolished TRF's benefits.

Laboratory biomarkers of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Clinical Biochemistry, 2022
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). The diagnosis of the disease is quite challenging due to its variation among patients. As a result, the need to enhance diagnostic procedures, evaluate objective prognostic markers and promote effective monitoring of patients' responses to treatment has ...

Dopamine, T cells and multiple sclerosis (MS) [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Neural Transmission, 2017
Dopamine is a key neurotransmitter that induces critical effects in the nervous system and in many peripheral organs, via 5 dopamine receptors (DRs): D1R-D5R. Dopamine also induces many direct and very potent effects on many DR-expressing immune cells, primarily T cells and dendritic cells.

Fulminant multiple sclerosis (MS)

Neurological Sciences, 2011
Fulminant multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most malignant form of MS which usually leads to death in few weeks. Although it can be accompanied by optic neuritis (ON), but long interval between ON and the grave onset has not been reported. Fulminant MS usually occurs as the first onset and previous ON is not common.
