Multiple Sluicing in English?

Syntax, 2013
AbstractSeveral cases have been discovered where syntactic violations seem to be “repaired” by sluicing. One such case is repair of island violations, first observed by Ross (1969). Another is situations in which a normally obligatory movement fails to apply and the derivation is seemingly salvaged by ellipsis.

Prediction of discharge coefficients for sluice gates equipped with different geometric sills under the gate using multiple non-linear regression (MNLR)

Journal of Hydrology, 2021
Abstract Gates in dams and irrigation canals are used for controlling discharge and for water regulation. To determine the discharge under a gate, the discharge coefficient (Cd) must be quantified. This study investigates the effect of sill shape under a vertical sluice gate on Cd. The study also includes the influence of height.

Pair-List Interpretation in Multiple Sluicing in Mandarin Chinese

Linguistic Inquiry
Among the proposals for multiple sluicing in Mandarin Chinese is what we call the multiclausal analysis, which posits that it involves conjoined single wh-questions. In this squib, we examine the analysis through the possibility of a pair-list interpretation for multiply sluiced clauses.

‘Multiple Sluicing’ in Japanese and the Functional Nature of wh-Phrases

Journal of East Asian Linguistics, 1998
This article discusses the syntax and LF properties of ‘Multiple Sluicing’ in Japanese. Built on the LF-Copying analysis, we examine the condition imposed on the elements figuring in the IP-Copying site, and show the relevance of the functional interpretation of wh phrases.

Kohonen self-organizing map for multiple-outlet sluice gates control system

2010 Sixth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2010
In multiple-outlet sluice gates control systems, the open-close state of each sluice gate is usually decided by personal experience based on upstream water height and downstream water height. In this paper, a new method is proposed to determine the state of multiple-outlet sluice gates.
