Extended Lindstedt-Poincare Method With Multiple Time Scales for Nonstationary Oscillations

Applied Mechanics, 2006
The paper presents the extended Lindstedt-Poincare (ELP) method, which applies multiple time scales to treat nonstationary oscillations arising in dynamical systems with cubic non-linearities. The passage through the resonance is conducted to study deviations from the stationary response.

Concurrent Multi-Domain Simulations in Structural Dynamics Using Multiple Grid and Multiple Time-Scale (MGMT) Method

International Journal of Computational Methods, 2018
This paper describes a generic algorithm for concurrently solving multiple sub-domains that are selectively discretized in space and time. The mathematical background for this approach is largely based upon the fundamental principles of domain decomposition methods (DDM) and Lagrange multipliers.

Separation of fast and slow variables for a linear system by the method of multiple time scales

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1987
Abstract A matrix method, introduced by Geigenmuller, Titulaer and Felderhof, for separating fast and slow motions of a system of first order linear differential equations is shown to arise in a natural way from a multiple time scales expansion. The general method is then used to derive the Smoluchowski equation (and its initial data) for Brownian ...

An effective method for large scale project planning with multiple fuzzy activity times

[Proceedings 1993] Second IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2002
Presents a method for solving a project planning problem in which the opinions of experts greatly disagree in terms of each activity processing time. Here, the goal is to determine the fuzzy project completion time and the degree of criticality for each path in a project network.

Hydrodynamic Equations from Fokker-Planck Equations –Multiple Time Scale Method–

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1979
It is well-known that a Fokker-Planck equation, which governs time evolution of a distribution function of a Brownian particle in µ-space, can be reduced to a diffusion equation, the so-called Smoluchowski equation, in coordinate space after relaxation in momentum space is established.

An Application of Multiple-Time Scale Perturbation Method to Nonlinear Ion-Acoustic Waves

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2012
In this work, by utilizing the multiple-time scale expansion method, we studied the propagation of weakly nonlinear waves in a collisionless cold plasma and obtained the governing evolution equations of various order terms in the perturbation expansion.
