A polynomial eigenvalue approach for multiplex networks [PDF]
We explore the block nature of the matrix representation of multiplex networks, introducing a new formalism to deal with its spectral properties as a function of the inter-layer coupling parameter.

Multiplex recurrence networks [PDF]
We have introduced a novel multiplex recurrence network (MRN) approach by combining recurrence networks with the multiplex network approach in order to investigate multivariate time series. The potential use of this approach is demonstrated on coupled map lattices and a typical example from palaeobotany research.

Triticum mosaic virus (TriMV) and High plains virus (HPV), identified recently, have been considered among the major viruses that affect wheat. Carried by the same vector, wheat curl mite, both of these viruses cause yellowing and stunting of plants ...

Relay synchronization in multiplex networks
Relay (or remote) synchronization between two not directly connected oscillators in a network is an important feature allowing distant coordination. In this work, we report a systematic study of this phenomenon in multiplex networks, where inter-layer ...

Correlated multiplexity and connectivity of multiplex random networks [PDF]
Nodes in a complex networked system often engage in more than one type of interactions among them; they form a multiplex network with multiple types of links. In real-world complex systems, a node's degree for one type of links and that for the other are not randomly distributed but correlated, which we term correlated multiplexity.

Combination and polyvalent vaccines not only provide protection against several different pathogens at the same time but can also increase vaccine protection against pathogens that have closely related pathogenic strains or serotypes.

Sandpiles on multiplex networks
We introduce the sandpile model on multiplex networks with more than one type of edge and investigate its scaling and dynamical behaviors. We find that the introduction of multiplexity does not alter the scaling behavior of avalanche dynamics; the system

Diversity-multiplexing tradeoff in mode-division multiplexing [PDF]
The capacity of mode-division multiplexing (MDM) systems is limited, for a given outage probability, by mode-dependent loss (MDL) and gain. Modal degrees of freedom may be exploited to increase transmission rate (multiplexing gain) or lower outage probability (diversity gain), but there is a fundamental tradeoff between the achievable multiplexing and ...
