Observability transition in multiplex networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We extend the observability model to multiplex networks. We present mathematical frameworks, valid under the treelike ansatz, able to describe the emergence of the macroscopic cluster of mutually observable nodes in both synthetic and real-world multiplex networks.

Targeted Long‐Read Sequencing as a Single Assay Improves the Diagnosis of Spastic‐Ataxia Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The hereditary spastic‐ataxia spectrum disorders are a group of disabling neurological diseases. The traditional genetic testing pathway is complex, multistep and leaves many cases unsolved. We aim to streamline and improve this process using long‐read sequencing. Methods We developed a targeted long‐read sequencing strategy with the

Fundamental Limits in Correlated Fading MIMO Broadcast Channels: Benefits of Transmit Correlation Diversity

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate asymptotic capacity limits of the Gaussian MIMO broadcast channel (BC) with spatially correlated fading to understand when and how much transmit correlation helps the capacity.

CellTag Indexing: genetic barcode-based sample multiplexing for single-cell genomics

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2019
High-throughput single-cell assays increasingly require special consideration in experimental design, sample multiplexing, batch effect removal, and data interpretation. Here, we describe a lentiviral barcode-based multiplexing approach, CellTag Indexing,

Unleashing the Power of Multiomics: Unraveling the Molecular Landscape of Peripheral Neuropathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Peripheral neuropathies (PNs) affect over 20 million individuals in the United States, manifesting as a wide range of sensory, motor, and autonomic nerve symptoms. While various conditions such as diabetes, metabolic disorders, trauma, autoimmune disease, and chemotherapy‐induced neurotoxicity have been linked to PN, approximately one‐third of

Optical data storage using orthogonal wavelength multiplexed volume holograms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We propose a volume holographic data storage scheme that employs counterpropagating reference and image beams and wavelength multiplexing for page differentation. This method is compared with that based on angular multiplexing. A reduction in holographic

Diversity Order Gain with Noisy Feedback in Multiple Access Channels

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we study the effect of feedback channel noise on the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff in multiuser MIMO systems using quantized feedback, where each user has m transmit antennas and the base-station receiver has n antennas.

Recent advances in high-capacity free-space optical and radio-frequency communications using orbital angular momentum multiplexing

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2017
There is a continuing growth in the demand for data bandwidth, and the multiplexing of multiple independent data streams has the potential to provide the needed data capacity.

A Novel Compressive Sensing based Enhanced Multiplexing Scheme for MIMO System [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A novel compressive-sensing based signal multiplexing scheme is proposed in this paper to further improve the multiplexing gain for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system. At the transmitter side, a Gaussian random measurement matrix in compressive sensing is employed before the traditional spatial multiplexing in order to carry more data streams
