Application of MUSIC to arrays with multiple invariances [PDF]
This paper describes generalizations of the MUSIC and root-MUSIC algorithms for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation to arrays composed of multiple translated subarrays. The advantage of these new approaches is that the DOAs can be estimated using either a one-dimensional search or by rooting a polynomial, as opposed to a multidimensional search as ...

An AI‐Enabled All‐In‐One Visual, Proximity, and Tactile Perception Multimodal Sensor
Targeting integrated multimodal perception of robots, an AI‐enabled all‐in‐one multimodal sensor is proposed. This sensor is capable of perceiving three types of modalities, including vision, proximity, and tactility. By toggling an ultraviolet light and adjusting the camera focus, it switches smoothly between multiple perceptual modalities, enabling ...

A Virtual Clinical Trial of Psychedelics to Treat Patients With Disorders of Consciousness
Disorders of consciousness after severe brain injury are marked by reduced complexity of brain activity and limited treatment options. Using personalized whole‐brain models, this study shows that simulated lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin shift patient brain dynamics closer to criticality.

A representation of the natural numbers by means of cycle-numbers, with consequences in number theory [PDF]
In this paper we give rules for creating a number triangle T in a manner analogous to that for producing Pascal's arithmetic triangle; but all of its elements belong to {0, 1}, and cycling of its rows is involved in the creation.

This work introduces a beamforming‐based method to generate acoustic images from fiber‐optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) data. By performing 2D scanning around the sensing fiber, the approach enables near‐field imaging and localization of acoustic sources, even in regions distant from the fiber. A data‐driven DAS channel selection improves image

A “Distant Music”: Invoking Phantasmagoria in Joyce’s “The Dead” [PDF]
This approach to Joyce’s “The Dead” casts a light on the mechanics of phantasmagoria working as a foundational deconstructive strategy at the core of this masterpiece.

Spectro-temporal post-smoothing in NMF based single-channel source separation [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a new, simple, fast, and effective method to enforce temporal smoothness on nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) solutions by post-smoothing the NMF decomposition results.

Engineering intramolecular hydrogen‐bonded planar architectures provides a versatile strategy for modulating the photoluminescent and photothermal behaviors of organic cocrystals. This work not only overcomes the limitations of selecting conjugated (hetero)aromatic compounds to meet the requirements of planarity and rigidity for cocrystal precursors ...

Ultrasensitive Diamond Cantilever‐Based Optical Microphone
The first demonstration that high quality diamond cantilevers function as high‐sensitivity acoustic transducers is reported, combining CVD diamond cantilevers and an extrinsic Fabry‐Perot optical configuration. High transduction efficiency yields record sensitivity (51.5 VPa−1) and MDP (0.018 µPa/Hz$\rm {\sqrt {Hz}}$), enabling durable, low‐noise ...
