Isoprenoid pathway related cascade in multiple myeloma

Pathology & Oncology Research, 2003
This study assessed the changes in the isoprenoid pathway and its metabolites digoxin, dolichol and ubiquinone in multiple myeloma. The following parameters were assessed: isoprenoid pathway metabolites, tyrosine and tryptophan catabolites, glycoconjugate metabolism, RBC membrane composition and free radical metabolism.

Cascaded Face Detector with Multiple Templates

Third International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing (IIH-MSP 2007), 2007
This paper proposes a novel face detection algorithm which extracts a local image structure (LIS) feature and adopts a boosting approach to construct a cascaded face detector. Due to the locality of LIS, the extracted feature is not only robust to lighting variation but also is invariant to small degrees of rotation.

Control of cascading in multiple-order Raman lasers

Optics Letters, 2012
In this work we explore a method for controlling Raman cascade within an intracavity Raman laser, with a view to maximizing output power at desired visible wavelengths. Sum-frequency generation is used to suppress unwanted Stokes orders, and prevent their build up. Using this method to control the Raman cascade, we demonstrate increases in output power

Multiple processes in electron-photon cascades

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1957
Recent experiments on high energy electron-photon cascades suggest the possibility of the following multiple processes:—

Multiplicative cascade models and multifractality

2007
We construct a (chaotic) deterministic variant of random multiplicative cascade models of turbulence. It preserves the hierarchical tree structure, thanks to the addition of infinitesimal noise or finite-state Markov approximations of chaotic maps. The zero-noise limit can be handled by Perron-Frobenius theory, just as the zero-diffusivivity limit for ...

Multiplicity Line in Cascade Transmission Synthesis---Part II

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1965
The synthesis of a stepped equal-length transmission line structure to a given insertion loss function sometimes leads to a multiplicity of untrivially related solutions. The philosophy of synthesis is explored to understand this lack of uniqueness and a new statement of sufficiency and necessity of synthesis is developed based only on an insertion ...

A statistical theory of cascade multiplication

Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1948
The secondary emission electron multiplier is chosen to illustrate the phenomenon of ‘cascade multiplication’. A method is given for deriving the semi-invariants of the probability distribution for the number of output electrons after any number of identical stages of multiplication, in terms of the corresponding semi-invariants for a single stage. The

Support Fragmentation for Multiplicative Cascade Measures

2000
The family of h-cascades arises naturally in the study of multiplicative cascades. We show that the limiting h-cascades deriving from a single collection of cascade generators have disjoint supports with probability 1 and are consequently a.s. mutually singular.
