Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Spatial Complexity and Lighting Interactions in Emergency Evacuation: Experimental Evidence from Immersive Entertainment Venues

open access: yesFire
Immersive entertainment venues use spatial complexity to enhance visitor experience, but these design features may impair emergency evacuation, particularly when lighting fails.

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Microfabricated Anisotropic Myobundles for the Scalable Production of Cardiac Tissue Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the anisotropy of cardiac tissue remains an outstanding challenge in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Here, we introduce an approach to generate anisotropic cardiac myobundles using cell‐adhesive, synthetic, electrospun fibers and stem cell‐derived cardiac fibroblasts.

The development of multiplicative thinking and proportional reasoning: Models of conceptual learning and transfer

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis considers the development of multiplicative thinking and proportional reasoning from two perspectives. Firstly, it examines the research literature on progressions in conceptual understanding to create a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT).

Multiplicative LSTM for sequence modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We introduce multiplicative LSTM (mLSTM), a novel recurrent neural network architecture for sequence modelling that combines the long short-term memory (LSTM) and multiplicative recurrent neural network architectures.

Unlocking Exceptional Strengthening in Aluminum Alloys via Interstitial Cottrell Atmosphere Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cyclic unloading‐aging‐reloading micro‐tensile tests under various aging durations and temperatures, combined with comprehensive microstructural characterization reveal that the yield point phenomenon in Aluminum‐Carbon (Al‐C) thin films originates from Cottrell atmosphere formation.

APPLICATIONS OF MULTIPLICATIVE COMPLEXITY THEORY TO CONVOLUTION AND THE DISCRETE FOURIER TRANSFORM (FAST, COMPUTATIONAL, DIGITAL FILTERING, SIGNAL PROCESSING, ALGORITHMS)

open access: yes, 1986
A review of the theory of multiplicative complexity and its application to common signal processing operations is presented. This review collects results on the multiplicative complexity of polynomial multiplication, products in extension fields ...

Differentiable Superpixel Generation with Complexity-Aware Initialization and Edge Reconstruction for SAR Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery is inherently degraded by multiplicative speckle noise, rendering traditional superpixel methods—which rely on hard assignment and uniform initialization—suboptimal for boundary preservation.

Solution‐Processed Thin‐Film Transistors With Tunable Temporal Dynamics for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed CNT and CNT/P3HT ion‐gated transistors exhibit materials‐defined synaptic timescales: fast CNT devices for high‐frequency spiking and slow hybrid devices for temporal integration. Embedding these dynamics into coupled reservoir‐computing and spiking neural network simulations reveals that a Hybrid‐Reservoir / CNT‐SNN architecture ...
