Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

On the Denseness of One Set of Series

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2001
In the paper the denseness of the set of all convergent series related to a class of multiplicative functions is obtained.

Influence of Cooling Rate on Primary Silicon Size in Hypereutectic Al–Si Alloy Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Al–Si alloys are particularly in demand for automotive and electronic applications, thanks to their excellent wear and thermal properties. Nevertheless, when processed by conventional methods with low cooling rates, the coarse primary Si phases are responsible for increasing brittleness and inducing crack propagation.

Jefficiency vs. Efficiency in Social Network Models [PDF]

open access: yes
The mainly used welfare criterion in the social network literature is Bentham´s utilitarian concept. The shortcomings of this concept are well-known. We compare the outcomes of the utilitarian concept with the Nash social welfare function.

Multiplicative Square Functions

open access: yesRevista Matemática Iberoamericana, 2004
We study regularity properties of a positive measure in the euclidean space in terms of two square functions which are the multiplicative analogues of the usual martingale square function and of the Lusin area function of a harmonic function.

Comparative Wear and Friction Analysis of Sliding Surface Materials for Hydrostatic Bearing under Oil Supply Failure Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

A Kannappan-Cosine Functional Equation on Semigroups

open access: yesAnnales Mathematicae Silesianae
In this paper we determine the complex-valued solutions of the Kannappan-cosine functional equation g(xyz0) = g(x)g(y) − f (x)f (y), x, y ∈ S, where S is a semigroup and z0 is a fixed element in S.

Pattern formation and spatial correlation induced by the noise in two competing species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We analyze the spatio-temporal patterns of two competing species in the presence of two white noise sources: an additive noise acting on the interaction parameter and a multiplicative noise which affects directly the dynamics of the species densities. We

Monotone and Boolean Convolutions for Non-compactly Supported Probability Measures

open access: yes, 2008
The equivalence of the characteristic function approach and the probabilistic approach to monotone and boolean convolutions is proven for non-compactly supported probability measures. A probabilistically motivated definition of the multiplicative boolean

ON BINARY CORRELATIONS OF MULTIPLICATIVE FUNCTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2018
We study logarithmically averaged binary correlations of bounded multiplicative functions $g_{1}$ and $g_{2}$. A breakthrough on these correlations was made by Tao, who showed that the correlation average is negligibly small whenever $g_{1}$ or $g_{2}$ does not pretend to be any twisted Dirichlet character, in the sense of the pretentious distance for ...
