Rectangular Bin-Packing Problem: a computational evaluation of 4 heuristics algorithms
The Rectangular Bin-packing Problem, also known as The Two-dimensional Bin-packing Problem (2DBPP), is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem which is the problem of orthogonally packing a given set of rectangles into a minimum number of two ...

Liquid Crystal Elastomers Under Confinement: A Review of Template‐Based Fabrication and Applications
Template‐assisted confinement offers powerful ways to control the alignment, structure, and function of liquid crystal elastomers. This review highlights several templating strategies and details how geometry and interfaces shape material responses.

Modeling and Simulation of an Alkaline Ni/Zn Cell
Based on a nickel/zinc prototype cell, experiments are conducted and a model capturing its hierarchical structure is developed. This virtual cell enables computational studies of charge‐discharge behavior and long‐term cycling. Results are compared and analyzed to derive optimization strategies, which are briefly tested within the simulation framework.

We show how to implement a bounded time queue for two different processes. The time queue is a variant of a priority queue with elements from a discrete universe. The bounded time queue has elements from a discrete bounded universe. One process has time constraints and may only spend constant worst case time on each operation while the other process ...

ThreadMonitor: Low‐Overhead Data Race Detection Using Intel Processor Trace
ABSTRACT Data races are among the most difficult multithreading bugs to find, due to their non‐deterministic nature. This and the increasing popularity of multithreaded programming have led to the need for practical automated data race detection. In this context, dynamic data race detectors have received more attention, compared to static tools, owing ...
