Approximation of the objective function: multiquadrics versus neural networks
COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 1999Global optimization in electrical engineering using stochastic methods requires usually a large amount of CPU time to locate the optimum, if the objective function is calculated either with the finite element method (FEM) or the boundary element method (BEM).

Analysis of Laminates using Multiquadric Radial Basis Function
International Journal for Computational Methods in Engineering Science and Mechanics, 2007Multiquadric radial basis function (MQRBF) is developed for static and dynamic analysis and to estimate natural frequency of laminated plate at various boundary conditions. MQRBF is applied for spatial discretization and Newmark implicit scheme is used for temporal discretization.

The application of Multiquadric function in surface reconstruction
2011 International Conference on Mechatronic Science, Electric Engineering and Computer (MEC), 2011This paper proposed a new experimental method about Multiquadric function interpolation with scattered data points for surface reconstruction. Through the comparison of experiments and error analysis, we get some values of scale parameter in the Multiquadric function for good reconstruction quality.

2D image elastic registration using multiquadric functions with smoothness
SPIE Proceedings, 2002Medical image elastic registration is an important subject in medical image processing. Previous work has focused how to select the corresponding landmarks manually and then use adequate interpolating for gaining the elastic transformation. However, the landmarks extraction is always prone to error, which could influence on the registration results ...

Identification of non-linear processes using reciprocal multiquadric functions
Journal of Process Control, 1992Abstract In this paper radial basis function (RBF) networks are used to model general non-linear discrete-time systems. In particular, reciprocal multiquadric functions are used as activation functions for the RBF networks. A stepwise regression algorithm based on orthogonalization and a series of statistical tests is employed for designing and ...

Numerical solution of Navier–Stokes equations using multiquadric radial basis function networks
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2001AbstractA numerical method based on radial basis function networks (RBFNs) for solving steady incompressible viscous flow problems (including Boussinesq materials) is presented in this paper. The method uses a ‘universal approximator’ based on neural network methodology to represent the solutions.

Surface Reconstruction by the Multiquadric Function
2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational and Information Sciences, 2012A new experimental method was introduced in this paper, in which the Multiquadric function interpolation with scattered data points was used for surface reconstruction. Through the comparison of experiments and error analysis, we get the relative efficient proportion of interpolation nodes.

Repeated Knots in Least Squares Multiquadric Functions
1995A previous paper by the authors [2] noted that there was a strong tendency to obtain near-repeated knots in their algorithm for least squares approximation of scattered data by multiquadric functions. In this paper we observe that this leads naturally to the inclusion of derivatives of the multiquadric basis function in the approximation, and give an ...
