Generalized Multiresolution Analysis on Unstructured Grids

Numerische Mathematik, 1999
The authors show that the efficiency of high-order essentially non-oscillatory approximations of conservation laws can be improved if ideas of multiresolution analysis (cf. Abgrall and Harten, CAM-reports 93-13, 94-10 and 94-20, University of California, Los Angeles, 1993-1994) are taken in account. These methods of data compression reduce the necessary

Multiresolution Analysis for Image Compression

2006
With the advent of the multimedia era and the growth of digital packet networks, the total amount of image data accessed and exchanged by users daily has reached the huge value of several petabytes. Therefore, the compression of continuous-tone still images, either grayscale or color, has grown tremendously in importance.

Multiresolution analysis for meshes with appearance attributes

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
We present a new multiresolution analysis framework for irregular meshes with attributes based on the lifting scheme. We introduce a surface prediction operator to compute the detail coefficients for the geometry and the attributes of the model. Attribute analysis gives appearance information to complete the geometrical analysis of the model.

Radiometric multiresolution analysis

WCC 2000 - ICSP 2000. 2000 5th International Conference on Signal Processing Proceedings. 16th World Computer Congress 2000, 2002
A new concept, radiometric multiresolution analysis (RMA) is proposed. An algorithm for computing the RMA is presented. It is, analytically and experimentally, shown that the RMA is a useful tool to analyze the model images with multiplicative correlated noise, which provide a new method to filter or restore this white noise-like signal, such as an SAR

Oblique multiresolution analysis

Proceedings of IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time- Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis, 2002
We present a new type of multiresolution, called oblique multiresolution (OMR), necessary in the decision context. All the fundamental properties of OMR are given and justified. The aim is to develop a multiresolution analysis which provide a redundant decomposition for use in the detection and classification application.

Extensions of Multiresolution Analysis

2014
Multiresolution analysis (MRA) is considered as the heart of wavelet theory. The concept of MRA provides an elegant tool for the construction of wavelets. An MRA is an increasing family of closed subspaces \(\left \{V _{j}: j \in \mathbb{Z}\right \}\) of \(L^{2}(\mathbb{R})\) such that \(\bigcap _{j\in \mathbb{Z}}V _{j} = \left \{0\right \},\,\bigcup _{

Smooth Multiresolution Analysis

2002
The axiomatic framework of multiresolution analysis is Fourier analysis in L 2, and the convergence of the wavelet expansion is therefore in the L 2-norm. The smoothness properties of the scaling function and of the mother wavelet are, however, of great interest to obtain fast L 2-convergence of the wavelet expansion, or to obtain pointwise convergence
