Proper generalized decomposition of time‐multiscale models [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2011
SUMMARYModels encountered in computational mechanics could involve many time scales. When these time scales cannot be separated, one must solve the evolution model in the entire time interval by using the finest time step that the model implies. In some cases, the solution procedure becomes cumbersome because of the extremely large number of time steps

On Dynamical Decomposition of Multiscale Oceanic Motions

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2023
The ocean hosts a variety of fluid motions characterized by contrasting dynamical regimes and spatiotemporal scales. A practical decomposition of multiscale motions in realistic oceanic settings is crucial to advancing dynamical interpretation and ...

Spectral Segmentation with Multiscale Graph Decomposition

open access: yes2005 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR'05), 2005
We present a multiscale spectral image segmentation algorithm. In contrast to most multiscale image processing, this algorithm works on multiple scales of the image in parallel, without iteration, to capture both coarse and fine level details. The algorithm is computationally efficient, allowing to segment large images.

Tourist Arrival Forecasting Using Multiscale Mode Learning Model

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The forecasting of tourist arrival depends on the accurate modeling of prevalent data patterns found in tourist arrival, especially for daily tourist arrival, where tourist arrival changes are more complex and highly nonlinear.

Remote Sensing Image Fusion Based on Adaptively Weighted Joint Detail Injection

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Remote sensing image fusion based on the detail injection scheme consists of two steps: spatial details extraction and injection. The quality of the extracted spatial details plays an important role in the success of a detail injection scheme.

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...
