Three-Dimensional Multiscale Fuzzy Entropy: Validation and Application to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, 2021
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, severe, and progressive lung disease with short life expectancy. Based on information theory and entropy measurement, a three-dimensional multiscale fuzzy entropy (MFE 3D) algorithm is proposed to identify IPF patients from their computed tomography (CT) volumetric data.

Rolling Bearing Fault Diagnosis Based on CEEMDAN and Refined Composite Multiscale Fuzzy Entropy

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021
Considering the nonlinear and nonstationary characteristics of rolling bearing vibration signals, we propose a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN), refined composite multiscale fuzzy entropy (RCMFE), Laplace score (LS), and the particle swarm optimization ...

Modified multiscale fuzzy entropy: A robust method for short-term physiologic signals

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2020
The introduction of the multiscale entropy (MSE) method was a milestone in the field of complex physiological signal analysis. However, since MSE is inapplicable for short signals, several variants of MSE have been proposed. One of the most important variants of MSE is the modified multiscale entropy (MMSE), even though it can still produce biased ...

Refined composite multivariate generalized multiscale fuzzy entropy: A tool for complexity analysis of multichannel signals [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2017
Abstract Multiscale entropy (MSE) is an appealing tool to characterize the complexity of time series over multiple temporal scales. Recent developments in the field have tried to extend the MSE technique in different ways. Building on these trends, we propose the so-called refined composite multivariate multiscale fuzzy entropy (RCmvMFE) whose coarse-

Analysis of biceps brachii sEMG signal using Multiscale Fuzzy Approximate Entropy

2015 37th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2015
In this work, an attempt has been made to differentiate sEMG signals under muscle fatigue and non-fatigue conditions using multiscale features. Signals are recorded from biceps brachii muscle of 50 normal adults during repetitive dynamic contractions. After preprocessing, the signal is divided into six segments, out of which first and last segments are

A Study of Sleep Stages Threshold Based on Multiscale Fuzzy Entropy

2018
The classification of sleep stages based on EEG signals has become a prerequisite for monitoring sleep quality and diagnosing sleep-related diseases. Many researchers have conducted related research work. But, they often overlook the effect of the extracted characteristics on actual sleep staging results and the interpretation in psychology and ...

Analysis of Complex Time Series Using a Modified Multiscale Fuzzy Entropy Algorithm

2016 International Conference on Identification, Information and Knowledge in the Internet of Things (IIKI), 2016
Multiscale fuzzy entropy (MFE) is an effective algorithm which has been successfully applied in many fields for measuring the complexity of a time series. Though, MFE can yield inaccurate entropy estimations as the coarse-graining procedure used by the algorithm reduces the length of the time series under investigation.

An intelligent technique for posture and fall detection using multiscale entropy analysis and fuzzy logic

2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON), 2016
Recognition of human body posture from the signals of wearable sensor has attracted a great interests in many applications, such as health care, aged care and sports. Main aim of the presented work is to recognize the basic activities of daily living (ADL) and detection of fall using two triaxial accelerometer located at the chest and thigh of the ...
