Wavelet and Multiscale Methods

Oberwolfach Reports, 2005
The Wavelet and Multiscale Methods workshop, organized by Albert Cohen (Paris), Wolfgang Dahmen (Aachen), Ronald A. DeVore (Columbia) and Angela Kunoth (Bonn) was held July 11–17, 2004. A central objective was to bring together leading researchers working in a variety of different areas where multiscale phenomena play an intrinsic role regarding the ...

Numerical multiscale methods

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2011
SUMMARYWe restrict the variational multiscale method to a class of methods we denote by numerical multiscale methods. Numerical multiscale methods are methods obtained by enriching the piecewise linear functions with special local functions. The enrichment provides additional stabilization via terms obtained by static condensation.

A Multiscale Finite-Element-Method

Civil-Comp Proceedings, 1997
Abstract This paper describes a hierarchical overlay of a p -version finite element approximation on a coarse mesh and an h -approximation on a geometrically independent fine mesh. The length scales of the local problem may be some orders of magnitude below the scale of the global problem.

Computational Multiscale Methods

Oberwolfach Reports
Many scientific and engineering problems exhibit complex interactions over a wide range of inseparable scales in space and time. Direct numerical simulations to solve such multiscale problems are often beyond current computational capabilities. The difficulties are exacerbated by the presence of uncertainty, randomness, and disorder and are hardly ...

Multiscale correlation dimension method

International Journal of Modern Physics C, 2020
We propose a new method as an extension of the correlation dimension analysis by combining it with multiscale analysis taking into consideration the features in multiple time scales. We introduce and demonstrate multiscale correlation dimension analysis (MSCD) on several chaotic and stochastic time series in detail.
