Multiscale permutation entropy analysis of electrocardiogram

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2017
Abstract To make a comprehensive nonlinear analysis to ECG, multiscale permutation entropy (MPE) was applied to ECG characteristics extraction to make a comprehensive nonlinear analysis of ECG. Three kinds of ECG from PhysioNet database, congestive heart failure (CHF) patients, healthy young and elderly subjects, are applied in this paper.

Weighted multiscale Rényi permutation entropy of nonlinear time series

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2018
Abstract In this paper, based on Renyi permutation entropy (RPE), which has been recently suggested as a relative measure of complexity in nonlinear systems, we propose multiscale Renyi permutation entropy (MRPE) and weighted multiscale Renyi permutation entropy (WMRPE) to quantify the complexity of nonlinear time series over multiple time scales ...

Multivariate weighted multiscale permutation entropy for complex time series

Nonlinear Dynamics, 2017
In this paper, we propose multivariate multiscale permutation entropy (MMPE) and multivariate weighted multiscale permutation entropy (MWMPE) to explore the complexity of the multivariate time series over multiple different time scales. First, we apply these methods to the simulated trivariate time series which is compose of white noise and 1/f noise ...

Multiscale permutation entropy analysis of the EEG in early stage alzheimer's patients

open access: yes2012 IEEE-EMBS Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Sciences, 2012
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with a progressive loss of cognitive function. Early identification of AD, when symptoms are mild, can be difficult. Therefore, the development of clinically useful measures are necessary to improve diagnosis of the disease and to allow for early clinical intervention, as well as to ...

Multiscale Tsallis permutation entropy analysis for complex physiological time series

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2019
Abstract Discussing the complexity of time series has been a long-standing problem, including the use of information entropy to determine the complexity of the sequence. Permutation entropy (PE) has been regarded as a learning process to investigate the complexity of time series, such as financial time series and physiological time series.

Refined composite multiscale weighted-permutation entropy of financial time series

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2018
Abstract For quantifying the complexity of nonlinear systems, multiscale weighted-permutation entropy (MWPE) has recently been proposed. MWPE has incorporated amplitude information and been applied to account for the multiple inherent dynamics of time series.

Analysis of crude oil markets with improved multiscale weighted permutation entropy

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2018
Abstract Entropy measures are recently extensively used to study the complexity property in nonlinear systems. Weighted permutation entropy (WPE) can overcome the ignorance of the amplitude information of time series compared with PE and shows a distinctive ability to extract complexity information from data having abrupt changes in magnitude ...

Improving of the interpretation of linear filtering preprocessing-based multiscale permutation entropy

2023 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2023
Multi-scale permutation entropy (MPE) is an interesting tool for analyzing signal internal structures and quan-tifying complexity. The most commonly used MPEs involve a linear preprocessing step applied to the original signal prior to the evaluation of the permutation entropy (PE).

Assessing multiscale permutation entropy for short electroencephalogram recordings

Cluster Computing, 2016
Electroencephalogram (EEG) has been a standard tool to monitor the status of the brain. For a quantification of EEG recordings, permutation entropy (PE) has been of interest due to simplicity and robustness to noise. A multiscale extension of PE, called multiscale PE (MPE), has been promising for describing the dynamical characteristics of EEG over ...
