THE AESTHETICS OF URBAN METABOLISM: Landscape, Design and the Politics of In/Visibility

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract In this article, we chart the evolving aesthetic contours of urban metabolism across London, focusing on the River Lea and Thamesmead to the north and south of the River Thames, respectively. We begin in the nineteenth century, when these two sites formed critical nodes within a new sewerage system that relegated the city’s circulatory flows ...

Path-Integral Formulation of Stochastic Processes for the Exclusive Particle Systems

open access: yes, 2000
We present the systematic formalism to derive the path-integral formulation for the hard-core particle systems far from equilibrium. Writing the master equation for a stochastic process of the system in terms of the annihilation and creation operators ...

Farmers’ Protests and Climate Change: An Analysis of Irish Dairy Farms Manifestations d’agriculteurs et changement climatique : Une analyse des exploitations laitières irlandaises Bauernproteste und Klimawandel: Eine Analyse irischer Milchviehbetriebe

open access: yesEuroChoices, EarlyView.
Summary In 2023 and 2024, farmers across Europe, including in Ireland, staged protests. Comparative Satellitomics in Arowanas (Telostei, Osteoglossiformes) Sheds Light on the Evolution of Ancient Satellite DNAs

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This work focused on arowana fishes (Teleostei, Osteoglossiformes) as a model; their widespread intercontinental distribution and basal phylogenetic position within Teleostei make them a compelling model for evolutionary research, especially in the realm of satDNA molecular evolution. Through the integration of genomic and chromosomal data, we analyzed

The Ladder of Multispecies Participation: Moving Towards a More Convivial Urban Planning

open access: yesNordic Journal of Urban Studies
Cities are brimming with more-than-human life. But cities are also responsible for both planned and unplanned forms of violence towards other species, where the exploitation of nature continues to destroy ecosystems. To prevent further biodiversity loss,

Resource Availability and Habitat Quality Drive Time‐Lag Effects in High‐Altitude Ungulate Distribution

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Our analysis revealed that while climate strongly influenced species distributions, habitat change drove most observed delays in distribution responses. In terms of community ecology, dispersed communities exhibited shorter time lags than concentrated groups. Analyses of lag duration revealed a 5–6‐year distribution lag effect in high‐altitude ungulate

Speculating-with Other-than-Humans in Multispecies Climate Fiction: Canopy of the Hidden Alley

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Environmental Education
This article explores multispecies climate fiction as a mode of inquiry that speculates-with other-than-humans. To explore cli-fi’s potential in research, I position speculative fiction in the field of research-creation, a praxis that combines artistic ...
