Multistability at microwave frequencies

Il Nuovo Cimento B, 1982
The behaviour of a Fabry-Perot microwave resonator, filled with a two-level absorber and fed by several e.m. waves of frequencies close to the absorber resonance, is investigated. The transmission as a function of the incident fields exibits multistability.

A BDD-based algorithm for analysis of multistate systems with multistate components

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 2003
A new algorithm based on binary decision diagram (BDD) for the analysis of a system with multistate components is proposed. Each state of a multistate component is represented by a boolean variable, and a multistate system is represented by a series of multistate fault trees.

A Modified Multistable Chaotic Oscillator

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2018
In this paper, by modifying a known two-dimensional oscillator, we obtain an interesting new oscillator with coexisting limit cycles and point attractors. Then by changing this new system to its forced version and choosing a proper set of parameters, we introduce a chaotic system with some very interesting features. In this system, not only can we see

Continuous Multistate Structure Functions

Operations Research, 1984
Usually, systems and components are described as being in one of two modes, “on” or “off.” Such systems are described using binary structure functions. More realistically, components can be in more than two states—for example, there can be partially failed or partially operating modes.

Adaptation in the Multistable System

1960
Continuing our study of types of environment we next consider, after Figures 15/7/1 and 15/8/1, the case in which the subsystems of the environment are connected unrestrictedly in direction, so that feedbacks occur between them. This type of environment may vary according to the amounts of communication (variety) that are transmitted between subsystem ...

Bounding the Reliability of Multistate Systems

Operations Research, 1982
Determining the exact reliability of a complex system can involve extremely large amounts of computation. This paper develops a number of upper and lower bounds for the reliability of multistate systems, that is, systems for which each component may exist in one of a finite number of states.
