Velocity Multistability vs. Ergodicity Breaking in a Biased Periodic Potential
Multistability, i.e., the coexistence of several attractors for a given set of system parameters, is one of the most important phenomena occurring in dynamical systems.

Mechanisms of Multistability in Neuronal Models
Multistability is a fundamental attribute of the dynamics of neuronal systems under normal and pathological conditions. The mechanism of bistability of bursting and silence is not well understood and to our knowledge has not been experimentally recorded ...

Fractional-Order Memristive Wilson Neuron Model: Dynamical Analysis and Synchronization Patterns
Fractional nonlinear systems have been considered in many fields due to their ability to bring memory-dependent properties into various systems. Therefore, using fractional derivatives to model real-world phenomena, such as neuronal dynamics, is of ...

Although the control of multistability has already been reported, the one with preselection of the desired attractor is still uncovered in systems with more than two coexisting attractors.

Quality of Soliton Multistability
Summary form only given. We introduce a quantitative measure of the quality of soliton multistability. As a practical example we compare optical soliton multistability due to type-II second harmonic generation to that found in double resonance quadratic nonlinearity model showing the superiority of the latter.

Exact multistability and dissipative time crystals in interacting fermionic lattices
The existence of multistability in quantum systems beyond the mean-field approximation remains an intensely debated open question. Quantum fluctuations are finite-size corrections to the mean-field as the full exact solution is unobtainable and they ...

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Universal, predictive attractor patterns configured by Lyapunov exponents (LEs) as a function of the control parameter are shown to characterize periodic windows in chaos just as in attractors, using a coherent model of the laser with injected signal ...

Multistate worklife expectancies
This communication reviews the demographic concept of worklife expectancy and draws the epidemiologists' attention to its usefulness in occupational health research and pension policy making. The distinctions between different analytic approaches to the quantification of expected workforce status and mobility are pointed out.

Explaining multistability: postphenomenology and affordances of technologies [PDF]
AbstractA central issue in postphenomenology is how to explain the multistability of technologies: how can it be that specific technologies can be used for a wide variety of purposes (the “multi”), while not for all purposes (the “stability”)? For example, a table can be used for the purpose of sleeping, having dinner at, or even for staging a fencing ...
