The Investigation of the Stability for Multistage Axial Compressors [PDF]
The “actuator-delay-volume” is used as a physical model for stages of compressors instead of “actuator-lumped volume” model to predict the stability of multistage compressors. The stall line of a multistage compressor is predicted with these two models respectively.

Analysis Methods for Aerodynamic Instability Detection on a Multistage Axial Compressor
In order to detect the aerodynamic instability of a multistage axial compressor more accurately and earlier, the harmonic Fourier mean amplitude analysis method and heterotopic variance analysis method are developed.

Flow Field Diagnosis in Multistage Axial Compressors [PDF]
A mathematical model is developed for the flow field diagnosis problem in multistage axial compressors. In view of the ill-posedness of the diagnostic problem, an effective measure is adopted to transfer the diagnostic problem into a variational problem which is solved by a regularization method. Two numerical results demonstrate the rationality of the

Stability of Flow Through Multistage Axial Compressors [PDF]
This paper describes measurements of the performance of a research stage operating in isolation and as part of a multistage compressor. It is shown that the stall point and the stalled performance of the stage are properties of the system in which it operates rather than a property of the stage itself. The consequences of this for the estimation of the

A throughflow-based optimization method for multi-stage axial compressor
A multi-objective optimization tool for multi-stage axial compressors is developed based on an automatically calibrated throughflow method. The Euler-based throughflow equations with blade force terms are solved using a time-marching finite volume method

An Investigation of Spanwise Mixing in Multistage Axial Flow Compressors [PDF]
An equation system has been deduced for meridional throughflow fields of multistage axial flow compressors, presenting different kinds of spanwise mixing effects of the fields in a unified form. The spanwise mixing in compressors is caused by three kinds of effects, molecular motion, turbulent diffusion, and circumferential non–uniformities, the last ...
