Estimating crippling loss from hunting with multistate models: a case study on northern bobwhites
Hunting as a recreational pursuit provides an important ecosystem service worldwide. Harvest management plays a vital role in regulating wildlife take to ensure long‐term population sustainability and meet value‐based objectives (e.g. hunter satisfaction). However, managers rarely have complete control or observability of harvest mortality.

A Circle Has No End: Role of Cyclic Topology and Accompanying Structural Reorganization on the Hole Distribution in Cyclic and Linear Poly‑p‑phenylene Molecular Wires [PDF]
π-Conjugated organic oligomers/polymers hold great promise as long-range charge-transfer materials for modern photovoltaic applications. However, a set of criteria for the rational design of functional materials is not yet available, in part because of a

Abstract Prioritization is a central component of natural resource management because conservation needs routinely exceed available resources. Waterfowl and wetland conservation programs in North America are at the forefront of landscape‐scale prioritization and transboundary management decisions due to the migratory nature of ducks, geese, and swans ...

Parasites alter host community structure in a natural experiment
Parasites can alter host communities in complex ways, but empirical data from natural systems are rare. This study decomposes the effects of an invasive parasite on natural communities of fish in Trinidad, revealing the direct, indirect, and context dependence of the invasion on host demographic rates and community structure.

Exploring drivers and costs of partial trans‐Saharan migration in juvenile vultures
Partial migration occurs when only a subset of individuals within a population undertakes a migratory journey. The decision to migrate can be influenced by intrinsic traits (e.g. sex or physical condition) as well as by extrinsic factors (e.g. social environment or resource availability).
