A BDD-based algorithm for analysis of multistate systems with multistate components

A new algorithm based on binary decision diagram (BDD) for the analysis of a system with multistate components is proposed. Each state of a multistate component is represented by a boolean variable, and a multistate system is represented by a series of multistate fault trees.

On Multistate System Analysis

Discrete function theory, which extends switching function theory and multiple-valued logic function theory, is introduced into multistate system analysis. Some theoretical conclusions and algorithms which play key roles in multistate system analysis are presented. The concepts of s-coherence and duality in binary-state system analysis are generalized.

Reliability Bounds for Multistate Systems with Multistate Components

It presents inclusion-exclusion bounds and compares them with disjoint subset bounds. The later bounds are based on a generalization of Abraham's recursive disjoint products.
