Multistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar Autofocus for Back Projection Imaging of a Moving Target

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a new metric‐based autofocus approach, called Localised Threshold Sharpness (LTS), which employs Multistatic SAR data to localise and focus a target moving with up to six degrees of freedom motion on a real‐time, pulse‐by‐pulse basis.

Toolkit for incoherent scatter radar experiment design and applications to EISCAT_3D [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae
Modern phased-array incoherent scatter radar (ISR) systems consist of several thousand phased-array antenna elements. Next-generation phased-array ISR systems are shifting towards multistatic setups consisting of three sites, such as EISCAT_3D with sites

Sparse Array Configuration Optimization Based on Target Priors in Distributed ISAR Imaging

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
In this letter, we consider the sparse array configuration optimization problem for distributed inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging of long‐range targets, aiming to suppress the strong grating lobes caused by sparse sampling. Particularly, we propose a distributed ISAR configuration optimization method, which constructs an equivalent ...

Directional sensitivity of track initialisation of a multistatic Doppler‐only passive radar network

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2021
A multistatic passive radar network originally presented in Ptak et al. for long‐distance aircraft tracking is sensitive to track initialisation errors. When these errors exceed 50 km, target tracking often diverges.

Research on methods to enhance the survivability of AWACS with FDA against anti‐ARMs on a battlefield

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The article improves the battlefield survival capability of early warning aircraft by using direction finding deception technology on reconnaissance systems using frequency controlled array early warning aircraft. Abstract The Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) are pivotal assets in aerial operations, necessitating specialised protection ...

Modelling real‐world effects in near‐field SAR collections for compressive sensing

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper develops previously published work on using compressive sensing techniques to suppress sidelobes in SAR images to develop a higher‐fidelity measurement model. Using Cranfield University's GBSAR System a series, experimental measurements are conducted, and image estimation techniques are applied to this real data.

Multistatic Localisation in Passive Radar System for LEO Space Objects Observation Using Terrestrial Illuminators and LOFAR Radio Telescope

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The paper unveils groundbreaking research on the passive multistatic radar localisation of low‐Earth orbit (LEO) space objects using terrestrial digital radio transmitters operating in the VHF band that served as illuminators of opportunity and a LOFAR radio telescope employed as a surveillance receiver.

An Antideceptive Jamming Method for Multistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar Based on Collaborative Localization and Spatial Suppression

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2020
In recent years, the research of multistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has become a hot spot because of its great potentials in military and civil applications. However, it is inevitably disturbed by electronic countermeasures.
