Belief Propagation for Coded Multiuser Detection
2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2006In this paper a simplified parallel belief propagation (BP) algorithm is suggested as a suboptimal soft-input soft-output multiuser detector in an iterative multiuser decoding scheme. The iterative decoding scheme itself is based on applying an outer BP algorithm for message passing between the BP multiuser detector and the single-user decoders.

Blind multiuser detection: a subspace approach
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1998Summary: A new multiuser detection scheme based on signal subspace estimation is proposed. It is shown that under this scheme, both the decorrelating detector and the linear minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) detector can be obtained blindly, i.e., they can be estimated from the received signal with the prior knowledge of only the signature waveform and ...

Constrained minimum-BER multiuser detection
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1999A new linear multiuser detector that directly minimizes the bit-error rate (BER) subject to a set of reasonable constraints is proposed. It is shown that the constrained BER cost function has a unique global minimum. This allows us to develop an efficient Newton barrier method for finding the coefficients of the proposed detector using information ...

Maximum likelihood blind multiuser detection
Proceedings of the IEEE Signal Processing Workshop on Higher-Order Statistics. SPW-HOS '99, 2003Code division multiple access (CDMA) is the most promising candidate to implement the wireless multiple access scheme of third-generation mobile communication systems. This paper introduces a new blind approach to multiuser detection in time-dispersive channels.

Iterative nonlinear MMSE multiuser detection
1999 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings. ICASSP99 (Cat. No.99CH36258), 1999This paper introduces the notion of nonlinear MMSE multiuser detection and shows that MMSE signal estimates followed by single user detectors yield MAP (or minimum probability of error) decisions for CDMA signals. Iterative solutions are proposed for nonlinear MMSE estimation.

Adaptive maximum likelihood multiuser detection
2000 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.00CH37060), 2002An optimal multiuser detector, in the weighted least squares sense, is derived for code division multiple access (CDMA) and space division multiple access (SDMA) systems.

Noncoherent decision-feedback multiuser detection
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2000The problem of noncoherent multiuser detection for multipulse modulation over the Gaussian multiuser channel is studied. It is assumed that neither the energies nor the carrier phases of the signals of any of the users are available at the receiver. Previously, a post-decorrelative generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) based detector was proposed as

Nonlinear group-blind multiuser detection
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2001Summary: A nonlinear group-blind technique is developed for joint detection of some given users' data in a CDMA uplink environment with the presence of unknown interference. This method performs the so-called ``slowest-descent search'' over a likelihood function of the desired users, starting from the estimate closest to the unconstrained maximizer of ...
