Multivariable control system synthesis

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part II: Applications and Industry, 1958
An important problem in the field of multivariable control systems is the design of suitable feedback and series compensation elements which, when added to a given system, result in an over-all system with improved characteristics. This improvement may apply to the behavior of the controlled variables, to the disturbance response of the system, or to ...

PID Control of Multivariable Systems

2019
In this chapter, we describe a novel approach to design multivariable controllers using single-input single-output theory. This method, based on the Smith-McMillan diagonal form of the plant, allows the scalar PID controller design methods, developed in earlier chapters, to be applied to multivariable systems, one loop at a time.

MULTIVARIABLE CONTROL TUNING WITH AN EXPERT SYSTEM

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract In this paper a software package for the design of centralized and decentralized multivariable controllers is presented. The software package consists of numerical calculation programs and an expert system. The paper first describes the general structure of the expert system. Next a design example is given.

Multivariable Structure of Fuzzy Control Systems

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1986
Application of fuzzy set theory to the design of control systems has led to interest in the description of multivariable fuzzy systems. The authors present an idea for the solution of multivariable fuzzy equations by decomposition of a multivariable fuzzy system into a set of one- dimensional systems. The authors use the block diagram representation of

AN EXPERT SYSTEM FOR THE MULTIVARIABLE CONTROLLER DESIGN

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1991
Abstract In this paper a software package for the design of centralized and decentralized multivariable controllers is represented. The software package consists of numerical calculation programs and an expert system. The paper first describes the different subtasks of the multivariable controller design.

Simulation of Multivariable Control Systems with SIMCOS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract In most cases, the entire simulation model of multivariable control systems itself is composed of different multidimensional subsystems. These can be process models, feedback control systems, state observer schemes, as well as deterministic signal models for reference variables and disturbances.

Invertibility of multivariable nonlinear control systems

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1979
This paper gives sufficient conditions for the invertibility of nonlinear control systems of the form \dot{x}= A(x)+ u_{1}B_{1}(x) +... + u_{m} B_{m}(x);y=c(x) , where the state space is a real analytic manifold. These conditions are also necessary in the case of single-input nonlinear systems and multivariable time-invariant linear systems.

Independent Parameter Control in Multivariable Systems

1989 American Control Conference, 1989
This paper presents new results for a theory of eigenvalue modification through feedback gain vector parameter variation. A basis for the gain vector space is developed using large-scale perturbations of the eigenvalues such that movement of the gain vector along a direction in this space affects the position of only one real eigenvalue, or of a ...

A Multivariable Optimal Control System for a Generator

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1986
A new digital generator control system has been developed, which coordinates excitation and governing systems of a generator by using multivariable optimal control scheme on the basis of modern control theory. Control performance of the developed system was investigated with computer simulations and tested at a 200KVA pilot power plant with 3KV ...

Multivariable control system design

1990
An introduction to multivariable control system design has been presented. Due to lack of space, only a brief overview has been given, but the interested reader can consult the references cited for further discussion.
