A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

An orthogonal forward regression technique for sparse kernel density estimation [PDF]
Using the classical Parzen window (PW) estimate as the desired response, the kernel density estimation is formulated as a regression problem and the orthogonal forward regression technique is adopted to construct sparse kernel density (SKD) estimates ...

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Two Dimensional Projection Pursuit Applied to Gaussian Mixture Model Fitting [PDF]
In this paper we seek a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) of an n-variate probability density function. Usually the parameters of GMMs are determined by a maximum likelihood (ML) criterion. A practical deficiency of ML fitting of GMMs is poor performance when

An Incremental Kernel Density Estimator for Data Stream Computation
Probability density function (p.d.f.) estimation plays a very important role in the field of data mining. Kernel density estimator (KDE) is the mostly used technology to estimate the unknown p.d.f. for the given dataset.

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Admissibile Kernel Estimators of a Multivariate Density
A kernel density estimator is defined to be admissible if no other kernel estimator has (among all densities and sample sizes) uniformly smaller mean integrated squared error. Admissible kernel density estimators are precisely those using kernels with nonnegative Fourier transforms bounded by 1. Several examples are given.

Predictive Ability of Plasma p‐tau217 for β‐Amyloid Status: A Prospective Multicenter Study
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma tau phosphorylated at threonine 217 (p‐tau217) measured with fully automated platforms has shown high accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis, but real‐world multicenter data remain limited. We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of p‐tau217 for identifying AD pathology in a real‐world multicenter cohort ...

Bandwidth Selection for Multivariate Kernel Density Estimation Using MCMC [PDF]
We provide Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for computing the bandwidth matrix for multivariate kernel density estimation. Our approach is based on treating the elements of the bandwidth matrix as parameters to be estimated, which we do by ...
