CSGM: A R Package to Conduct a Robust Cross‐Sectional Geometric Morphometric Analysis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 190, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Evaluating the relationships between the shape and biomechanical function of bone cross‐sections can contribute novel insights towards human functional and evolutionary morphology. However, this research involves unique analytical and statistical challenges when comparing complex and multidimensional shape data to multivariate ...

Advanced Non‐Enzymatic Electrochemical Sensor Materials for Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 6, Issue 3, May 2026.
This review summarizes advances in materials‐driven, non‐enzymatic electrochemical biosensors for early Alzheimer's diagnosis via biofluid analysis. Amyloid‐β and hyperphosphorylated Tau are highlighted alongside sensor performance metrics, including sensitivity and selectivity.

Distal femoral morphology as a risk factor for osteoarthritis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 5, Page 1394-1405, May 2026.
Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of disability affecting millions of adults in the United States, commonly resulting in the need for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to restore mobility and quality of life. This study investigates potential differences in baseline distal femoral shape between individuals who received TKA due to OA and a ...

Genetic Diversity, Population Structure, and Environmental Influences in Nepeta glomerulosa: Implications for Conservation in the Irano‐Turanian Region

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Nepeta glomerulosa shows moderate genetic diversity with three main clusters and significant admixture, highest in the Alborz Mountains, suggesting it may be the center of origin. High genetic differentiation (Gst = 0.4199) points to limited gene flow and possible self‐pollination, with geographic isolation shaping population structure.

Intrapopulation Metabolic Variation Reflects Growth Differences: A Cross‐Sectional Study on Gammarides

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
For the first time in Gammarus insensibilis, a single‐organism 1H NMR metabolomics approach was applied to investigate the intrapopulation variability in growth trajectories showing how divergent size classes, despite being of the same age, reflect alternative resource‐allocation strategies.

Dietary Overlap of Sympatric Polyphagous Alpine Grasshoppers Includes Invasive Plant Species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
The diets of three sympatric grasshopper species were compared using mandible morphological analysis, microhistological examination, and DNA metabarcoding of gut contents. Although mandible morphology differed across species and sexes, dietary divergence was not evident.
