Evidence of adverse selection in automobile insurance market: A seemingly unrelated probit modelling

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2017
The present paper investigates the adverse selection problem by examining the relationship between accident occurrences and deductible choice utilizing a seemingly unrelated probit model that allows for best controls for unobserved heterogeneity and ...

Resource Availability and Habitat Quality Drive Time‐Lag Effects in High‐Altitude Ungulate Distribution

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Our analysis revealed that while climate strongly influenced species distributions, habitat change drove most observed delays in distribution responses. In terms of community ecology, dispersed communities exhibited shorter time lags than concentrated groups. Analyses of lag duration revealed a 5–6‐year distribution lag effect in high‐altitude ungulate

GLOSSA: A user‐friendly R Shiny application for Bayesian machine learning analysis of marine species distribution

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Species distribution models (SDMs) are one of the most common statistical methods to assess species occupancy and geographic distribution patterns. With the increasing complexity and availability of ecological data in the marine context, many methodological approaches have been developed to support SDM analysis.

Accelerating computation: A pairwise fitting technique for multivariate probit models

open access: yesComputational Statistics & Data Analysis
Fitting multivariate probit models via maximum likelihood presents considerable computational challenges, particularly in terms of computation time and convergence difficulties, even for small numbers of responses. These issues are exacerbated when dealing with ordinal data. An efficient computational approach is introduced, based on a pairwise fitting
