Arabic Multiword Expressions

2014
In this work we address the problem of automatic multiword expression identification and classification in Arabic running text. We propose a supervised machine learning approach using a relatively small manually annotated data augmented with an increasing size of automatically tagged data, labeled using a deterministic pattern-matching algorithm.

Compositionality and multiword expressions

Proceedings of the Workshop on Multiword Expressions Identifying and Exploiting Underlying Properties - MWE '06, 2006
In this talk, I will investigate the relationship between compositionality and multiword expressions, as part of which I will outline different approaches for formalising the notion of compositionality. I will then briefly review computational methods that have been proposed for modelling compositionality, and applications thereof.

Turkish verbal multiword expressions corpus

2018 26th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2018
In this study, a Turkish corpus with labeled verbal multiword expressions was built. The verbal multiword expressions in the corpus were annotated according to their subcategories. The Turkish train and test corpora that was published in PARSEME Shared Task 1.0 were updated as train and development corpora based on PARSEME Annotation Guidelines ...

Computational Treatment of Multiword Expressions

2018
In natural-language processing, multiword expressions (MWEs) have been the focus of much attention in their many forms, including idioms, nominal compounds, verbal expressions, and collocations. In addition to their relevance for lexicographic and terminographic work, their ubiquity in language affects the performance of tasks like parsing, word sense ...

Classification of Multiword Expressions

2019
MWEs are heterogeneous, and thus they are often classified into different categories. There are diversified categories from different perspectives: pedagogically-oriented (Alexander, 1984; Biber, 2009; Howarth, 1998; Lewis, 1993; Nattinger & DeCarrico, 1992), linguistically-oriented (Cowie, 1988; Granger & Paquot, 2008; Moon, 1998), and NLP-oriented ...

Formulaicity without expressed multiword units

2020
Abstract In this chapter, I investigate three types of formulaic structure that can be characterized as underspecified with elliptical materials and lacking the kind of expressed multiword units as typically conceived.
