Symmetry Control of Mutually Thermoelectric Conversion in Rutile RuO2
We demonstrate that crystal symmetry can efficiently modulate mutual thermoelectric conversion. Longitudinal electric‐to‐heat conversion via the anisotropic crystal Peltier effect is observed in a RuO2 single layer without forming P–N junctions, and its dependence on crystal orientation is revealed by lock‐in thermography. The effects of restricted nursing (RN) and the administration of a bovine appeasing substance (BAS) on days −8 and 0 in relation to weaning were evaluated. Both strategies were effective in improving the growth performance of beef calves. Regarding welfare, BAS ‐especially on day 0‐ was more effective than RN.
