Muon capture in deuterium [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2010
Model dependence of the capture rates of the negative muon capture in deuterium is studied starting from potential models and the weak two-body meson exchange currents constructed in the tree approximation and also from an effective field theory.

Euphonic: inelastic neutron scattering simulations from force constants and visualization tools for phonon properties

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1689-1703, December 2022., 2022
An overview of the Euphonic Python package for efficient simulation of inelastic neutron scattering by phonons from force constants is presented.Interpretation of vibrational inelastic neutron scattering spectra of complex systems is frequently reliant on accompanying simulations from theoretical models.

Comparative Analysis of Nuclear Matrix Elements of 0νβ+β+ Decay and Muon Capture in 106Cd

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
Comparative analyses of the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) related to the 0νβ+β+ decay of 106Cd to the ground state of 106Pd and the ordinary muon capture (OMC) in 106Cd are performed.

Evolution of Hot and Dense Stellar Interiors: The Role of the Weak Interaction Processes

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The evolution of the hot and dense interior of massive stars has aroused the intense interest of researchers the last more than three decades. In this article, the role of the semi-leptonic weak interaction processes of leptons (involving neutrinos) with

Muon capture on deuteron using local chiral potentials

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
The muon capture reaction μ− + d → n + n + νμ in the doublet hyperfine state is studied using nuclear potentials and consistent currents derived in the chiral effective field theory, which are local and expressed in coordinate space (the so-called ...

Search for Muon-to-Electron Conversion with the COMET Experiment

open access: yesUniverse, 2022
Charged Lepton Flavor Violation is expected to be one of the most powerful tools to reveal physics beyond the Standard Model. The COMET experiment aims to search for the neutrinoless coherent transition of a muon into an electron in the field of a ...

Ordinary Muon Capture for Double Beta Decay and Anti-Neutrino Nuclear Responses

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2021
This is a brief review on ordinary muon capture (OMC) experiments at Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) Osaka University relevant for the study of double beta decays (DBDs) and astro anti-neutrinos (neutrino) nuclear responses. OMC usually leaves

Nuclear Many-Body Effect on Particle Emissions Following Muon Capture on $^{28}$Si and $^{40}$Ca [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 107, 054314 (2023), 2022
Muon captures on nuclei have provided us with plenty of knowledge of nuclear properties. Recently, this reaction attracts attention in electronics, because it is argued that charged particle emissions following muon capture on silicon trigger non-negligible soft errors in memory devices.

Muon capture in oxygen

open access: yesIl Nuovo Cimento, 1964
Muon capture in oxygen has been studied at the Berkeley 184-inch cyclotron. Muons were identified by a time-of-flight system and brought to rest in a water-cell, where some of them were captured by the16O nucleus. In the present state of the theory, the only firm conclusion is that the pseudoscalar coupling constant is positive.

Radiative and non radiative muon capture on the proton in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We have evaluated the amplitude for muon capture by a proton, mu + p --> n + nu, to O(p^3) within the context of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT) using the new O(p^3) Lagrangian of Ecker and Mojzis (E&M).
