The mechanism of primary cosmic particle transformation into secondary radiation near the ground surface is analysed. It is known that the main part of secondary cosmic radiation consists of muons.

The age of fossil StW573 (‘Little Foot’): An alternative interpretation of 26Al/10Be burial data
Following the publication (Granger DE et al., Nature 2015;522:85–88) of an 26Al/10Be burial isochron age of 3.67±0.16 Ma for the sediments encasing hominin fossil StW573 (‘Little Foot’), we consider data on chert samples presented in that publication to ...

Fitting the annual modulation in DAMA with neutrons from muons and neutrinos. [PDF]
The DAMA/LIBRA experiment searches for evidence of dark matter scattering off nuclei. Data from DAMA show 9.2 σ evidence for an annual modulation, consistent with dark matter having a cross section around 2 × 10(-40) cm(2).

Optical Manipulation of Multiferroic Phases in BiFeO3 Thin Films
At the strain‐driven morphotropic phase boundary, optical control over the multiferroic rhombohedral and tetragonal phase mixture is demonstrated using above‐bandgap light illumination. The photoinduced charge carriers modify the electrostatic environment and induce the conversion into a single tetragonal phase.

The R_AA and v_2 of muons from heavy-quark decays in Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector [PDF]
The ATLAS experiment measures the production of muons coming from the decays of heavy flavour particles in the kinematic interval ...

Lithiation‐Driven LiCrSe2 Shell Growth on Metallic CrSe2 Core Governs the Plateau–Slope Behavior
Layered CrSe2 is investigated as a lithium‐ion battery cathode combining fast Li+ diffusion and structural reversibility. Calculations and experiments reveal a single topotactic intercalation process with a characteristic plateau–slope profile governed by lithiation‐induced conductivity changes. A core‐shell lithiation evolution underpins its high‐rate
