The importance of integrating herbarium records into conservation plans: a case study on Honduran ferns and lycophytes

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Herbarium collections are powerful, yet underutilized, tools for global biodiversity conservation and protected area management. By integrating digitized herbarium records with existing biodiversity data, previously unknown plant species were uncovered, exposing critical gaps in conservation knowledge.

Reduced Tillage Intercropping With Thymus hyemalis Reshapes the Rare Soil Microbiome and Co‐Occurrence Networks in a Semi‐Arid Almond Orchard

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Environmentally friendly farming practices are gaining interest, and intercropping is a promising option to protect soil health, yet its effects on orchard microbiomes and functions remain underexplored. In this study, we assessed a 3‐year intercropping assay of Capparis spinosa (D1) and Thymus hyemalis (D2) with almond and reduced tillage in ...

Alley Cropping Can Potentially Alter the Nitrogen and Carbon Soil Cycles and Increase the Abundance of Beneficial Bacteria in a Mediterranean Citrus Orchard

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Monocrop of mandarin leading to reduced soil biodiversity and functionality that must be changed to a sustainable agriculture practice such as alley cropping. In this study an attempt has been made to assess how two different alley cropping strategies promote soil bacterial diversity, microbial activities and the abundance of beneficial ...

Origen y evolución urbana de Alcañiz. De la villa medieval a la ciudad renacentista

open access: yesEspacio, Tiempo y Forma.

Nano‐Structuring of Zirconia Implant Surfaces as an Approach to Improve Clinical Performance and Economic Efficiency—A Preclinical Study on Osseointegration

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, Volume 36, Issue 6, Page 748-758, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives Nano‐structuring of zirconia dental implants would simplify the production process compared to the currently applied sandblasting and etching. Prior in vitro studies even revealed faster cell spreading and increased viability of osteoblasts on nano‐structured zirconia surfaces.

La muralla de Cauca vaccea

open access: yes, 2016
The recent finding of the vaccaean city wall of Cauca confirm our suppositions from many years ago about the place in which was situated, at the south-southwest of the city, and the construction materials that were used, mud-bricks, but the newness ...

Reverse genetics in the Arabidopsis chloroplast genome identifies rps16 as a transcribed pseudogene

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 122, Issue 3, May 2025.
SUMMARY The plastid (chloroplast) genomes of seed plants contain a conserved set of ribosomal protein genes. The rps16 gene represents an exception: It has been lost from the plastid genomes of gymnosperms and several lineages of angiosperms, and may have undergone pseudogenization in a few other lineages, including members of the Brassicaceae family ...

Integrating plant growth microorganisms in potato farming reduce soil CO2 emissions and improve crop quality

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 41, Issue 1, January‐March 2025.
Abstract Current horticultural practices typically require high demands of fertilizers, leading to significant environmental impacts and increased production costs. Alternatives based on microbial inoculants have garnered considerable interest owing to their potential to enhance soil quality whilst reducing external inputs and costs, all without ...

In‐Depth Analysis of the Complex Interactions Induced by Nanolayered Additives in PHBV Nanocomposites

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 309, Issue 7, July 2024.
New poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV)‐based nanocomposites are developed by the addition of two nanolayered additives, cloisite 20A and calcined hydrotalcite, to improve the thermal and mechanical properties of the biopolymer matrix. The characterization of the nanocomposites proves the enhancement in PHBV behavior.
