ESSENTIAL MEIOTIC ENDONUCLEASE 1 is required for chloroplast development and DNA repair in rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, Page 2931-2948, July 2025.
Summary Chloroplast development is fundamental to photosynthesis and plant growth but is sensitive to environmental stress. Chloroplast development and division require genome stability and DNA repair, but the underlying mechanisms have been unclear. Using a forward genetic approach, we identified the striped‐leaf mutant k48 in the rice (Oryza sativa L.

Light Quantity Impacts Early Response to Cold and Cold Acclimation in Young Leaves of Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 48, Issue 7, Page 5030-5052, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Plant reactions to stress vary with development stage and fitness. This study assessed the relationship between light and chilling stress in Arabidopsis acclimation. By analysing the transcriptome and proteome responses of expanding leaves subjected to varying light intensity and cold, 2251 and 2064 early response genes and proteins were ...

In vitro regeneration of Basella alba L [PDF]

open access: yes
Basella alba L. is a tropical vine used as a vegetable in some Asian and African countries. It has potential as a nontraditional crop for small family farms. A short day plant, it blooms during the fall, provided the temperatures are mild.

Abolishing ANAC017‐Mediated Mitochondria Retrograde Signalling Alleviates Ammonium Toxicity in  Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 177, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Ammonium (NH4+), an important nitrogen source, often fails to stimulate plant growth as a sole nitrogen source, a phenomenon known as ammonium toxicity syndrome. NH4+ is believed to disrupt cellular redox status by increasing chloroplast reducing capacity and exporting excess reducing equivalents, which trigger retrograde signalling.

Ascaroside#18 Promotes Plant Defence by Repressing Auxin Signalling

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 177, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Plant immunity against pathogens is primarily triggered by the perception of pathogen‐associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). Ascaroside#18, a nematode‐derived pheromone, is the first identified nematode‐associated molecular pattern conferring broad‐spectrum pathogen resistance.
